I may be a tad out on these figures, I’ve collected them from Wikipedia so some of the appearance stats I counted may be a little out, I’ve only gone off the
“notable players” section of the Sheffield United academy Wikipedia page, some of these players I’d long forgotten about such as Nicky Law, Ben starosta and David parkhouse. These players have however played league football for professional clubs

Its passed 20 mins on for me because I’m a sad bastard.
Since the late 90’s early 00’s our academy has produced players that have appeared for a professional league club in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the ROI or international teams at under 18 or above

10,500 “professional appearances since 2000” I don’t think that’s too shabby to be honest, I’d like to compare that to the pigs, I’d imagine we’d absolutely dwarf it.
With the new academy site and structure incoming I can only see this continuing for the next 25 years with a bit of luck but this is Sheffield United and we all know that sometimes things can turn on it’s head extremely quickly.

You can say appearances for Derry, Linfield and Ross county shouldn’t be counted but I’d rather be playing for Bala Town than the dog and duck or even not at all.

Really does feel like we've got a golden age of home grown players coming through, in one week we've seen stand out performances from Arblaster, Brooks, Seriki and Peck, with an honourable mention for an excellent finish by Marsh. Ryan Oné doesn't look too far off it either.

Having such a big rebuild, bringing in the quality that we have done, and having these guys there to give us the depth we thought we were missing is a great position to be in. It's a long old season, but early signs are positive.

Might be wrong but does Louis Reed still hold the record of the youngest player from our Academy to play a first team game, or have we had someone younger since then?

Just looking at the current posts on the thread 'Old Photos For No Reason Whatsoever' (Post 28129) and there is reference to our cup game against Fulham in 1967.

Out of 11 players 10 of them came through our juniors (todays academy). Only Bill Punton was a signing.

We have always endeavoured to produce our own unlike those across the city.
