Pay Lundstram up now

I can see the sense in that and hopefully that is the case, instead of them all wanting out as well.

I think some of them will, others won't give a shit as long as they are getting paid. Whoever is / becomes manager needs to identify who wants it and build around that

Having digested yesterdays result and complete non performance down at Leicester, and having watched every game this season, and followed United closely, just as I have done for most of my life, I've drawn to the following conclusions.

Some of the players have to shoulder some of the responsibility of this terrible season.

In goal we have got Aaron Ramsdale who is above censure as he has performed manfully, shown a great attitude as the season as gone on

The balance of the defence was dramatically altered as we lost the most important member of it early in the season and a player who offered a lot going forward as well. Egan and Basham have struggled with the second season but still put a shift in, same applies for Baldock. Enda Steven has struggled more than most without his mate JOC in the side and his form has fallen off a cliff. Ampedu, Lowe and Bogle are still young lads learning the game. Robinson and Bryan have tried to do a job but aren't up to scratch, and Jags is a player who was brought in for his experience and to help out the squad with his Premier League experience, and wasn't expected to be a first team regular, more a player with experience who could come off the bench to settle everything down.

Midfield has been poor for long periods of this season. Fleck has struggled with injuries and doesn't look fit and is blowing out of his arse after an hour of most games, and other teams have worked out how to stop Oli Norwood getting on the ball and splitting defences wide open with his ping. Berge has been injured for most of the season. Ampedu has been required at the back and not had the opportunity. Ben Osborn is full of effort but is Championship standard.

The forward line has performed manfully but has been starved of quality service. For all the criticism Brewster has received, he still gets in a lot of good positions but the ball never appears where he wants it to be. McBurnie is a honest, hard working target man who will willingly go up for headers all day and night and chase and harry the opposition back line. McGoldrick has been the man most likely to score just through his intelligence and willingness to try something difference. Sharp is the same as Jags, a talismanic figure who is better off coming off the bench nowadays to grab us a goal and Burke isn't cut out to be a striker at this level. Mousset, less said about him at the minute as he has been a waste of time this season.

The one player who should shoulder most of the blame this season is John Lundstram. In his first couple of seasons I backed him when he was subject to a lot of unfair criticism. He was a young lad who was playing at a higher level than he had done before and sure, he made mistakes but he also put in a real shift in every game he played. Crunching tackles and driving forward with the ball and getting in to some really good positions as well and weighing in with the goals. Before the 19/20 season he went away, trained hard all summer and came back as fit as he could possibly and came in to the side and made a midfield position his own with some superb box to box midfield performances, driving forward with the ball and looked a player who had been playing in the top flight all his career.

Yesterday he ambled through the game, not even arsed to get out of first gear, with all the air of a man who knows he is gone at the end of the season and couldn't give a fuck about his team-mate or Sheffield United. He missed tackle after tackle, when he did get on the ball his output was mainly long telegraphed balls for the strikers to try and run on to, or losing possession all to easily. I understand there are players who rightfully were nowhere near their best yesterday as they care enough about the club and their team-mates for the events of the last few days to have had a massive negative impact on their mentality and there wasn't anywhere near their best and that is understandable and I can accept that, but Lundstram has been like this all season.

I'd have him in the office this morning, give him and his agent what they need to fuck off, and move on without him. He obviously has downed tools, hasn't got the professional dignity to put in the slightest bit of effort and his letting himself, his team-mates and the club that pays his wages down massively. His performance yesterday was nothing more than a disgrace and embodied a player who is a mercenary who is more bothered about what he can get out of the game. Yesterday he should be acutely embarrassed and ashamed, and I hope when he is no longer a Sheffield United player that the offers don't come in and that through sheer arrogant petulence he hasn't fucked us over, he has fucked his own career as well. Shameful

These ideas are great. Do we have a player to replace Lundstram with? Nope.
Robbie on the basis that he's gone in Summer anyway surely even one of the U-23s is a better option? SOMEONE has to play there next season after all and clearly it won't be him

Great write up. and totally in agreement with every written word, in fact you have been kind to the midfield which has been shocking all season tbh

There’s no way he’s signing a new contract. Don’t play him, get the youngster Ndiaye in for some experience

Do what my brother and his mates did with a moaning cunt at their workplace. They paid out his bonus of £100 in two pence pieces.

I don't think anyone is anywhere is near good enough and ruining a kid is hardly likely to be a good idea. Not adverse to some kids getting some minutes but it's probably best to shelter them from this season.

Wait a minute!
Who's gonna be scapegoat when lunnys gone?

The fucked up thing about that is that you are most likely correct.

But he will always in my mind, be one of those who downed tools when it mattered.
Apart from a handful of games last season I don’t think his tools have ever been out of the toolbox.

What's so funny? :)
The idea that a useless muppet like Lundstram will be playing in the CL let alone the PL. Not a pop at you but the world will truly have tipped off its axis if that happens.

Maybe you're right mate but under hecky's wing........

Lundstram could go to Rangers. Rangers could well play in the Champions League. He could well play for them in the Champions League.

Not unthinkable at all.

Yep, you may be right but I doubt he’ll do any better than a Championship club. Be interesting to see if others consider him to be a decent footballer when I think he’s rubbish. Won’t be the first time this particular armchair expert is wrong!

He’ll have to up his work rate to get in the Rangers side. Plus they get forward quickly, Johnny Backpass won’t fit in.

Not sure Lunny will be getting a bonus.

He won't be back passing to pad his stats out like he has this season though.

FWIW I’d drop him and try Burke or Bogle on the right side. Either of those two aren’t afraid to run at a man and cause issues for defences.

Plus if we lose then nothings really changed has it.

Our fans let emotion effect their opinions.
You can be sure agents and clubs won’t be emotional and will conduct their business based on cold facts.

I’ll explain why Lunny is likely to be offered £50K a week in the PL.

1: He received massive publicity last season coming on as sub for 3 or 4 months playing really well for us and he was also scoring goals.
So he’s proven that he can perform to a decent level at PL standard. Sometimes when he came on as sub his energy changed the game in our favour.

2: Believe it or not......last season fans at other clubs...thought he was our best player.
I find this hard to believe but he’s probably our most well known...high profile player.
Fans at other clubs will put this seasons poor form down to playing in a poor team.

3: His position is combative, tough tackling, get all around the pitch, goal scoring midfielder.
The fact that his goal record was so good last season...ensures other clubs will be interested,

4: No transfer fee...means it’s easily affordable for any PL club to offer Lunny £50K a week. (just £2.5 million a season....so he becomes a relative bargain).
Think it depends on the length of the contract. He might even be offered much more than £50K but for only 1 or 2 years.
To some clubs Lunny will be seen as a Jack Rodwell low cost type signing...£2.5 million a season is peanuts to a PL club.

Many will say....ahh he can join Palace for £60K a week but he’ll rarely play and will soon be back to playing in league 1.
Doubt Lunny will be bothered if his next contract makes him a millionaire...he’ll consider his career to have been a success,

That's the unfortunate reality regardless of what we think of him, and we see him play every week. He can bank the cash and if he's sensible with it can live a very comfortable life after football on that kind of money, dining out on maybe a dozen decent games. It's the fact that he can turn up when he feels like it, which isn't very often.

hes done himself no favours for getting another club with these pathetic performances of a mardy child hope he ends up in league 2 obscurity
