He was neat and tidy, found space well, and made a good contact on the ball when he played it. Seen plenty of them who haven`t made it though, but he`s one for the notebook.

Yep, he was alright. Might be something special but there’s equal chance of him doing absolutely nothing. He didn’t really pull up any trees today. Not many would really have taken that much notice if it wasn’t for his age, which is great, providing he keeps developing.

Pace is his only attribute. Anyone with half a footballing brain who matches him for pace will beat him every time.

Nah, I've seen far more than just pace from him. He is very skillful and evades challenges brilliantly at times. Physically there's also the height and agility. For whatever reason he just doesn't seem to use his attributes effectively enough.

Maybe my assessment was harsh and that he does offer a bit more than pace but he wouldn’t be good enough to get in our team. Baldock matched him for pace today and had him in his back pocket.

He wouldn't get in our team, but I wouldn't mind him as an option from the bench. It would be interesting to see him in a confident attacking team with good players around him.

Yeah in a better team I think he’d make more of an impact, and pace is always useful off the bench. I just think he’s about too much pace and not enough ability. I certainly wouldn’t want him if we go up.

I Thought he was outstanding. Won everything and used it well.
If we go up I'd buy him in a heartbeat.

Didn’t realise he was their hot prospect, apparently only 17 years old - Luca Connell. Thought he looked neat and tidy on the deck and looked for the ball. Can’t believe he was that young!

Agree Rodley looked a tidy player & certainly mature beyond his years , one to keep an eye on

He looked good to be fair, neat and tidy and running the show for them. He’s got a lot still to do though. Louis Reed and Conor Dimaio looked top drawer when the pissed fat boy Steve Evans off by playing Rotherham off the park.

I remarked during the game that he looked and played like Luca Modric just missing the girlie hair band shocked when i found out after some research that his first name was Luca and only 17,he was for me their best player, can see him playing for the full Ireland team very soon,Bolton turned bids down from Prem sides this January...........How ? thought they were up shit creek money wise.

Thought the kid overhit far too many aimless balls forward imho

He made his league debut against Reading in midweek. According to my Trotter mate he was outstanding and there was general disbelief in the crowd when he was taken off. At that point they really turned on Parkinson, not that it was going to take much.

That may have influenced Parkinson’s decision to give him a full game, made easier by the fact he was outstanding, creating their best chance for Clayton’s feeble header. He wasn’t intimidated, didn’t shirk tackles (Fleck would intimidate the hell out of me), calm on the ball and was very vocal in a way you really wouldn’t expect from a 17 year old.

Especially towards the end.

That being said, you can't deny how comfortable he was on the ball for a 17 year old - you can understand a degree of excitement around him.

Sorry but he did nowt, Ameobi far more of a threat .

17 years old - running a poor, but still championship midfield - that's 17 years old.

Point taken about Ameobi - but to dismiss a 17 yo wanting to take the ball and control the midfield shows a talent beyond his years.

Not sure others agrees with you though - you must watch a different game to the rest.

UTB

Ameobi had quite a bad game.

He's got so many good attributes but stamina and teamwork seem to be lacking, but it doesn't help him being at Bolton.
I don’t get them playing him wide though. That said it seemed to be a tactic to push him high and wide to stop Basham getting forward which seemed to work for a while until Wilder changed the formation and pushed Bash into midfield

Apparently, he's still available to sign now due to his contract not being a full-time professional one. Nixon in The Sun (I know) says that Burnley are still trying to sign him now for absolute peanuts.

Agree with most comments - he looked their standout player yesterday and couldn't believe he was only 17 when I looked him up. Worth a punt for sure.

I thought some of them looked overweight as the players weren’t on his wavelength?

For me, he’d be a great asset round better players.

Tremendous prospect!

I thought almost the exact opposite. I thought he was one of the hardest working front players I've seen at the Lane this season. He tracked back with Basham time and time again and I remember thinking that it was good to see a team's most talented player working so selflessly for his team.

Burnley have looked at him. Can sign him whenever they want too due to him only being a scholar.

Although he tired late on, I thought he looked a very accomplished player for his age.

The last time that a 17 yr old’s performance excited me so much and made me sit up and take notice, was Britney Spears in her ‘....Baby one more time’ video, and that was the late 90’s. :)

Get him in. He can go to barbers with Deano and Dowell.
