Paul Mullin?

We aren't talking about what he was once capable of though.

Personally I think League 2 is about his limit. The fact he's only played about 20 games above that level seems to support that view.
Paul Mullin scored 32 goals for Cambridge in League Two in 20/21. That's less than two years ago, he's 28 now so it's not like he's well past him prime. He apparently had multiple offers after that season to go to League One but chose to go to Wrexham for the money for family reasons.

All that said, I'd suggest that his ceiling is midtable in League One. He's probably good for 10-15 goals a season at that level.

If he played every game like he did against us, he's be a quality signing. Nightmare for any defender with his movement. Really hard to neutralise. Strong, clever and scores loads. L2 cheatcode

He is a bit like the washing machine. He is a good L1/L2 striker.

He literally did that two seasons ago Yes but prior to that, his best return is 8! in L2 and you have to go all the way back to 2015 for that. Let's face he's not very good or prolific.

Don’t think he’s athletic enough for the higher two divisions.

He’ll stay with Wrexham as long as they need him. He’s near family and they love him there. He’s a bit like what Lee Trundle was. He’ll be adored at his club but won’t scratch the surface of the top two tiers and he’s probably ok with that.

It isn’t uncommon for a team promoted from the National League to also be in the mix in League Two. I’d imagine that could be on the cards and that will suit his career trajectory. Then it might start to test Rob and Ryan’s commitment.

Decent player for the level he operates at and can probably hold his own two leagues above that.

Signing for us isn’t really a serious conversation though.

He certainly isn't going to do much better than 6k a week in the bottom two leagues, unless of course he signs for the pigs when Bazza Bannan has stopped bleeding them dry.

More likely they come in for sharp, who could do a job at that level for 3 more years..

You'd be surprised at some of the salaries in L1!

The Massive's ridiculous wage bill for that level is an outlier but there are several players at other clubs on >£10k/week.

Why would we want to swap someone so valuable to us for a player who isn't even nearly as good?

Joining Wrexham and playing another couple of seasons might be more attractive than hanging the golden boots up and going coaching to a very fit and capable 37 year old..

The chances they create, he'd get 30 a season, and be first name on the team sheet, whearas if we go up we'd probably get another striker in putting him further down the pecking order..

Him and Mullin up front at that level would be a joke wouldn't it.

Wouldn't affect his legendary status here either..

I was replying to someone suggesting we swap Sharp for Mullin.

Billy would be a beast at that level.

Mullin is the sort of signing I'd expect if we were still shit kicking in league 1....

Got that cut from shaving his legs the melt as there was no contact for the pen. Karma will catch up with this diving bastard sooner or later.

No, you haven’t. I heard some pundit saying he was on around £5-6k a week. I believe it as he turned down L1 football to sign for them.

I would have too, other than those idiots across town there won’t be many league one teams that would pay that much
He got promoted to L1 with Cambridge but left them.

I have it on good authority that Mullin earns about the same as Didzy does at Derby.

Poor Didzy
