Really enjoyed his thoughts on the gaffer. Says he's by far the best he's ever worked with

Glowing testimonial from Paul Mitchell looks like we have finally got the right man must make sure we keep him

'Alright, when he came to Sheff United they were half alright.'

Perfect way of describing us!

had a chat with paul outside the ground a week after he joined us, very nice bloke, knows what he wants and goes for it

Interesting character Paul Mitchell, his non playing career has been spent in similar environments to that of Chris Wilder and his Sheffield accent was a joy to behold on last night's Biggs offering.
He had an excellent poker face as Rob Station was giving his take on some of the local happenings, no nods of agreement or clues to whether he agreed or not.
Spoke plainly and gave absolutely fuck all away other than categorically stating he thought Hourihane would end up at Villa this window.
As I remember him, he was a no nonsense physical centre back with plenty to say for himself on the field (even as a youngster he was very vocal). I played against him at the arse end of my playing days as he was just starting out in the man's game.
Though I'd never met him he knew my name and was in my earhole all the 90 mins and I finally emerged from his pocket in time for the post match shower and drink.
I reckon we're in good hands all the way through the football management team. Let's hope it remains so for a few years yet.

Excellent interview and a real insight into how Chris Wilder works: tirelessly and very effectively.

Very impressed with Mitchell as well, articulate and committed.

We could well have a winner here.

PM is a fine addition to the Blades team. Knows the game and he was a big hard CB when I first saw him. He handled the interview with skill and just enough info to keep the conversation interesting

True. I'd always pictured him looking more like this...

Me too.

Had a very unpleasant shock whilst driving about last Sunday evening listening to BBC 5Live Extra on the radio. Whilst waiting for the Packers/Dallas play off game they were going through the previous evenings games and brought up Seahawks/Falcons.
Fuck me if they didn't roll out Piggy Staton as the resident Seahawks expert. Seems he runs some blog or other about them. Went from wishing they'd beaten the Falcons to glad they'd lost in about .06 of a second. Piggy twat.

I watch for Head Scout achievements very closely and it has been one of our weakest areas for so long.

Last summer Wilder clicked into 'quick remedy' mode and overall did very well to build such a strong squad so quickly with so many newcomers having to settle in together; amazingly well in fact.

Look at the signings now though, different class, real quality and targeting specific areas of the squad.

We are building on strengths and the main two men who affect our potential for success are the manager and the Head Scout. To my usual mantra I will add Alan Knill as an essential ingredient in the recipe.

Looks a good lad to me. No problem.

If I was running a business in South Yorkshire I'd put my last £ on Mitchell, Wilder, Knill.

Football is not all about South Yorkshire though.

If the football world ended at L1 and L2 I'd stake my mortgage on all of them. It's not though.

Football is a global game. Thing is I would like to swim or sink with the South Yorkshire way ( yes Knill qualifies through residence!) I'd love to see more Academy players in our teams, not just the 'stars' but more the bread and butter. Sell the young 'stars' for working capital until we can afford to keep them, nothing wrong with that in fact it's an obvious strategy.

Something big is happening. Give Wilder a 10 year contract NOW. 'Sink or swim' with a thorough professional, show him we believe in him, back him and then let the Premier League get used to the 'South Yorkshire Way". We know it makes sense and will happen one day. Besides Wednesday have gone a different route and it is 'unproven' in Sheffield or anywhere in fact apart from at big clubs. We need to do something different. Reward Wilder NOW.

Lose the next 2 games and the knives will be out, no room for failure with our fans.

What did he say?

I can't be bothered to watch.
Worth watching tbf. I've only seen the first half but it's clear this bloke knows his stuff. And he said Wilder has a better record than Carvaham. Really enthused about CW. Not just the best he's worked with but way ahead.

Suit yourself if that is what you believe.

Think big I'd say and by the way the next 10 results do not change a thing.

Right fit, right way forward.

BTW Carruthers and Riley are different class to what we've seen recently. Can Wilder integrate them, of course he can. If he thought otherwise he would delay it.

Anyone who thinks we won't lose games, thus turning on Wilder, probably doesn't grasp the knee-jerk reactions of some supporters. I'd ask anyone who reacts that sharply to take a deep breath and wonder why they're responding so irrationally. That's right, I said irrational. If we had a 10-match run where we hadn't won a single game then I'd be worried, but that's called putting things into an understandable perspective, where more than a couple of games had passed and we might not seem capable of arresting this reversal of fortunes. Otherwise, perspective is what's called for. We lose a game and, from everything I listen to, our manager insists on correcting the failings of that loss. We're fortunate to have Chris Wilder, what began as an indifferent start, where many supporters were unclear about the new person in charge, has turned into a winning attitude that runs through the whole club. It's the most refreshing moment to be a Blade I can recall over about 16 years, perhaps even longer. Don't underestimate this man, he has a winning instinct, we've suffered far too many average managers not to recognise who we have driving this club forward.

Agree with you Woody ,Mitchell might be our modern day Archie Clark. We never replaced him and our recruitment dropped off remarkably when he died

He was the scout responsible for putting together a great pathway for players to come to the first team (60 s ).Harris and Clark put a team out which was
full of local talent. It dried up after he died of course and no one as ever replaced him, maybe until now.Mitchell certainly brought a few through at Chesterfield
and we have benefited already.

Oh and welcome back Woody!!

Wilder gives me huge belief that I've never had in a United manager before, even more so when you hear Mitchell talking about him like that.

Some other interesting stuff regarding scouting as well but I thought Biggs could've asked him a bit more about that.

Boom or bust, t'was always thus.

Win a few games and you are a god.

Lose a few and you are nothing.

Can we just forget the 10 year contract nonsense and just concentrate on getting promoted?
