Enjoyed that. Didn‘t want to move to us, but quickly realised it was the right move after he’d arrived. Had an excellent season. And then despite getting himself in a good condition was told in the Premier League that we wanted a more battling option in his position, ie Gillespie. In fairness, that till about Feb looked the right decision, but he’d have been a good option I think once Gillespie lost form. And let’s be honest, CKR was as much a luxury player on the wing as Ifill was, so it wasn’t as though there was no room for such a player on the wing.

Very open about the respect for Warnock’s honesty despite what was a mixed time with him. Remarkable story about him being dropped for the derby because Mrs Warnock had a dream about Alan Quinn scoring the winner.

Also crazy that despite him being long departed someone at the Lane scuppered a move to Central Coast Mariners, which ultimately led to him heading to the Phoenix instead. Ultimately though heading to the Phoenix seemed to be the best decision of his career.

Yes, he did seem to mention that he was alerting people at his past clubs to some of the upcoming talent, though it wouldn’t surprise me if following that Mariners episode he is directing them to anyone other than United. I imagine the people in question though have since moved on...

Worth flagging for anyone that dipped out of it after the initial thoughts on his time here that at the end of it he highlights his biggest regret in the game is thinking he’d made it when appearing in the Prem, not putting in the effort, and then leaving at the first opportunity, rather than knuckling down and fighting for a place. It’s one of the more interesting ex-player interviews from United, including the stuff not specifically on his time with us. Seems a very thoughtful guy that’s happy in what he’s doing.

Can't help thinking that Wilder wouldn't have stood for that mentality of 'I've made it to the Prem, that's it', but also if he was in the side and playing well, he wouldn't get dropped for away games. That tactic for away games hardly did us any good did it?

Thought he was a really good signing for is. One of those who was always a thorn in our side when in opposition. Glad that he was decent when he signed.

I thought Ifill was an excellent signing. Whenever we played Millwall him and Cahill were always impressive.
