Paul Gallagher

The other pleasing aspect of this is the fact it's another signing that's come in completely under the radar. I haven't seen Gallagher's name linked to us at all before today. We've become much better in not allowing info on signings to leak ahead of them being done deals.

When all the backroom staff have been made redundant there are far fewer places a leak could come from! :)

Gallagher's squad number is 23. Random fact is that no-one has ever scored for United wearing that number. Apart from that and 13, scorers have come from every other squad number from 2-38.

Has it been used much though, Darren? Do you know who has worn it over the years?

Good signing. Thought it a bit bizarre at first until i found out hes more a winger.

Not a bad signing at all this, not bad at all shame it is only for a month it could take that long to see the best of him. I wonder if there is a chance of extending the loan if it works out well ?

not very often players stay for one month.
id expect him here whilst crimbo at least.
think andy reid stayed for at least 3?did he not?
a great signing by the way,he`will fit straight in.him and mcdonald in the midfield is an exciting prospect.a step forward methinks.

Decent signing.

Hopefully we get the chance to extend the deal if he does well.

I think he is a cracking signing, but i'm still concerned about a lack of a ball winner in the middle of the park. I think the absence of Doyle will be telling in the next 3 games.

Having said that, i think that Gallagher is a win/win signing for the club

Didn't Jim Brown score as a number 1? Or am I thinking of another goalie? Or did it all never happen except in my fevered mind?

Don't think he'll be needed for more than a month as Elliot Whitehouse should be close to fitness now. However if Elliot plays to his potential in 9 or 10 games he'll be gone in Jan transfer window.

decent player, i will be having a cheeky little bet on saturday for him to score 1st! :) i might even win enough to pay for the new 3rd kit lol

Jim Brown scored for Chesterfield against Stockport in the early 1980s

I think if he fits in and enjoys himself hes likely to stay longer from listening to his interview via Twitter. He does'nt want to go into whats wrong at LCFC, but does'nt sound to happy with the situation he was in there.

Second point, he knows where the back of the net in. Some cracking long range beauties too.

Excellent signing. Well done Mr Wilson :)

My only concern being a 6 game loan, whereby possibly it will take a number of those to get match fit having not seen any first team action for some time I understand

Nevertheless, beggars and an all that!

Yeah, I remember that. As I recall he said it was not his first. Perhaps the other wasn't for us. Fevered mind is still a possibility.

Lets hope for a success like Phillips last year only this time we get to keep them

On the wages Leicester pay I can't see him staying for more than the loan period. In fact I'd wager we're only paying a small portion of his wage now.

He also scored for Washington Diplomats in an NASL game in the 1970's. I think (though I may be wrong) that he was playing as a striker due to an injury on that occasion.

No United goalie has ever scored whilst playing as a goalie, though Paul Tomlinson scored whilst playing outfield in a tour game in the USA in 1985 and Fatty Foulke got a couple after he moved to play up front in a friendly against a black South African team (known, in that innocent age, as "Kaffirs") in 1899.

Thanks. A mine of information as usual.

On topic. Good signing. Sounds like a replacement for Quinn rather than Doyle.

Wish ours could have at least scored a penalty last season;)
