My favourite player until the back pass rule came in!

Nice bloke , shocking footballer . Educated at the Nick Montgomery of pass it to the opposition and couldn’t trap ag of cement school.

He looks like Nosferatu. He was a talentless twat of the highest order. I'll never forgive him for his clowning about v. Sunderland & Gabbiadini.

If you are honestly comparing Beesley with Montgomery, then god help you. I try and remain positive about most players that put on the red & white shirt, but Beesley was absolute toss. He was cut slack my managers because he was left footed, and could give balance to a CB pairing. He was one of the most technically limited players we've had play for us in recent times, and he was stupid to boot, as was shown in the Sunderland match. To drop one back pass short to MG is bad enough, to replicate it a minute later sums him up. People on here denigrate Jake Wright, but he's twice the player Beesley was, an absolute wank stain of a player.

I initially thought Beesley was a great signing.
He looked good when he played for us in division 2 (Championship), he seemed a character and I liked him.
However he seemed to find it difficult in the PL and ended up being a weakness in our team.

Weird that Leeds signed him afterwards.

Maybe it was his versatility, he could play left back or centre back.
Don’t think he played much for Leeds though, not sure if he was injured or bad form.

I thought he never played any lower than the top division for us? He then went to Leeds and is regularly voted as one of their worst players ever.

Quote from who is Leeds' worst ever player....

"He drifted around the lower leagues to the end of his career, briefly popping back up at Leeds as a youth coach. Whilst we moan about the dross who have played in recent years, Beesley remains one of those players who is always mentioned when dragging up the names of the crap to have passed through the club. A strong candidate to win this section."

He also features in the same discussion between Man City fans...

"Paul Beasley. A terrible player, to top it all he scores an own goal at Maine Road in a game V Bury. Bury won 1-0".

Not disputing how good or bad a player he was but 375k record United signing before going to leeds for 250k and a season later onto Man City for 500k!
Must've looked good at some point!

You'll never beat Paul Beesley!
You'll never beat Paul Beesley!
Marco Gabbiadini did. In fact he made him have kittens! I’ve never seen Beesley so bad as he was that day. Anyone remember that game v Sunderland at home when Gabbiadini ripped him a new one on several occasions?

Yes, that’s why I’ve mentioned it twice in the thread already. We busted our balls off for about 80 minutes to keep it at 0-0, then that prick does his magic twice and we lose 0-2.

He never played for us in Division 2 did he? It was before my time but listening to the video and the very quick internet search I’ve done suggests he played for us in the 1st Division.

He won our player of the year in 93, according to Wikipedia.

I was 5 so I’m in no position to say whether he was any good or not

I won’t let him have one of my macaroons, let’s put it that way. :)

I had David Dickinsons macaroons in Marrakech airport.

On another note Beez was colossal against the pigs at the sty on sir Bobby Davison night.

The fuck up v Sunderland was as much Rostrons fault, I liked Beez, hard worker, reliable (most of the time).

He was signed from Orient once in Division 1 so not got a clue what you are blathering about.

If you are honestly comparing Beesley with Montgomery.

Given that Montgomery was a ragamuffin shadow-chaser, devoid of any talent whatsoever, he ought to be flattered.

“And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme.
To your tambourine in time, it's just a ragged clown behind.
I wouldn't pay it any mind.
It's just a shadow you're seeing that he's chasing.”

Ode to Nick
R. Zimmerman.

Do you have some kind of alert set up for if a thread mentions Monty’s name?

Speak his name and he will come!!!!

Indeed, a consistent presence in four top flight years and in a team that got the highest place finish I can remember cannot just be labelled shit.
