CONFIRMED Patrick Bamford signs a new 18 month contract

I've had more than ENOUGH of journeymen on massive money milking the club at the behest of shite journeyman managers that sign them which both take the club backwards long term.
Play One (to get up to match speed) and Campbell to keep him fit along with Ings if needed.
Sit the scrounger on the bench in the freezing cold and tell him after the game to sign or F off.
Have a bit of self respect and FFS see he has not been that good despite the goals.
The rest cannot score on the bench or sat in the stand or at home like One.

He's 32. I would have thought the contrat length is going to be the biggest issue. He signs to the end of the season and gets injured then thats it for him, he can't get a contract in the summer until he's fit, and he spends another summer seaching around for a club.

For us - he'll be on top Championship wages. Assuming we are in the Championship next season*, we'll need to trim the wage budget quickly.

If he really wants a 2.5 year contract. I wonder whether the club are willing to do that especially for a player who has had injury issues in the past.

I'd take the risk personally. Getting in a No.9 of his quality will cost a fortune if you buy, and still expensive if you loan one in. Easy to say when its no my money though.

Regardless of whether he signs or not he’s played an integral part to helping us stay out of the relegation zone and that needs remembering big time.

When he joined we were a clusterfuck and had played 15 games, with 11 losses, just the 3 wins and only 1 draw accumulating 10 measly points, since then we have played just the 10 games, with 7 wins, just the 2 losses and only 1 draw accumulating 22 points, without looking into his performances, which at times he’s shown absolutely true class for the league we’re in, we need to try our upmost to keep him here until at least the end of the season because there’s no coincidence in them stats at all.

It’s ultimately up to him and he owes us nothing, he’s earned everything he’s been paid for and some, let’s just hope we can come to an agreement because it will be a huge loss for us if he does go elsewhere and let’s face it, he’ll have one or two suitors.

I was in the didn’t want him signing for us camp too, you can only call it honestly and as you see it, that goes a long way for me and is more important than being right most of the time.

So, as it’s 85 miles from Highfield Road to the White Rose, you would have needed to average 127 mph, to do it in 40 minutes, really? I’m a petrolhead, had v6s, v8s, a straight 6, a v12 and numerous lively 4 cylinders, plus I’m a biker, Ducati 1200, and there is no way on this earth that 85 miles in 40 minutes is possible when you have to get out of Coventry, and get into Sheffield. On a bike, maybe, just maybe, but I doubt it.

Having had a 1978 Capri 3.0s flat out at 120mph, with the whole thing shaking to death, and that’s in a straight line, your memory must have drifted into dreamland. Sorry, but your statement just made no sense!

I was going to calculate so once I’ve been doing a similar journey for years but further west of Cov. It takes me over 2 hours each way so I too thought his memory was a little suggestive. Especially out of Highfield Road

Yeah, that makes sense and I understand that, just wondered if there was ever a situation where a player genuinely wanted to play for club A but ended up at club B because the agent said so. Makes all the proclamations of 'he wants to sign' rather pointless. 'He wants to sign if we give him the most money', that would be refreshingly honest!

To be fair I don’t think Ipswich link were huge it was mainly down to them saying they were after a striker and the press put 2 and 2 together. I could believe a move to Cov though, If he doesn’t stay with us he more likely go to the MLS in February. It’s probably £50k+ a week for 2 1/2 year deal he is after. We have to ensure we can afford it in season 2 and 3, if we can’t then unfortunately we have to let him go and hold firm however it will be a disappointment, it’s not worth upsetting the long term finances
