Think the benefit of having him is more that we can go long and he is excellent and bringing others into play

The problem is his legs are gone. And even if he wasn't destroyed by injuries - he's barely played professional football in a year. By the time he's match fit (assuming he doesn't get injured again), it'll be January and we could be bringing in an actual signing.
