This whole argument about passion is really starting to get on my tits. It's crazy to to suggest a man stood calm with arms folded is less passionate than a man going ape shit on the touchline. When we played Chelsea a few years back, you glanced at the touchline and mourinho was stood/sat calmly watching the game but warnock was going mental most of the time, I'm not sure you could accuse mourinho of not being passionate. I may not sing at games as much as some folk but you suggest I'm not as passionate and you'll see exactly how passionate the blades make me. I'm not having a pop at anyone in particular here, I'm just saying whenever I hear how it's clear that morgs is much more passionate than Danny I just can't help but laugh

Well Wilson lost something, passion/ motivation ... something.. or we won't have gone 4 homes games in a row without a win and performance. Passion is just the go to word for fans.

Paul Walker? Is that you Paul Walker?

My take is that Wilson was asking his players to play a passing method that they weren't brave or capable enough to carry off. It degenerated into desperation, hoof and negativity, which to the outside observer looks passionless.

There's no question Morgan has got the players playing a more simple method now in which the players can play with less fear. I keep hoping we'll have a team that will become established enough to play a good passing game. but for many fundamental reasons (hi Kev), that never seems to able to flourish.

Yes spot on :D

That doesn't mean we should give up, JD. I'm afraid we have the most unsophisticated fans in the land. Not only do they not expect proper football, they actually don't want it. "Upanatem lads - Gerritintbox". They moan that we're in a pub league but delight in pub football. Unbelievable!

I should say I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two games. However, intensity and fervour will only take you so far and is necessarily a short term fix only. There really is no substitute for ability. Sorry, hoofers and ale house fans.

That simple still eh Pinch? A year of the most mind numbing anti hoof football I've ever witnessed, and you can still only frame it as Hoof V football?

Enjoyed the last games far more than watching Swansea

Thanks Morgs

Your Mrs sings especially when she's passionate at certain games;)

you said when we played Chelsea a few years back, not a few more a long time ago( 7years ago) I remember the day(SOUNDS A BIT SAD I KNOW)

I've seen many a team taking your preferred 'style' [what a misnomer!] of getting into the box as quickly as possible - never mind how. It doesn't work. Teams that win things don't play that way and they dismiss teams that do with contemptuous ease.. Brentford certainly didn't play like that and many of our fans were much impressed by them.

Still, we are the parochial, Neanderthal, blinkered, anachronistic Blades. All together now.......

People are saying they prefer what Morgan is serving up to what Wilson served up. They're not saying they wouldn't like to see us playing like Barcelona if the option's there.

Furthermore, the fact that the best teams in the world play a certain way does not mean it's the best way to play at all levels, in all circumstances, regardless of resources.

Why this simplistic outlook that there are only 2 styles of play - passing and hoof - and anyone who doesn't understand that option 1 is superior in every way to option 2 is a neanderthal? Football is far more complex than that.

how do you quantify passion
we fans have it spades, must have to put up with the endless dross we get served up
but players, since they started getting 5 k a week and more is there less passion than when gil reece got £50 a game

I'm not suggesting giving up on doing things properly. Though if I was a sensible sort I'd give up on United. Every club has limitations, but the lack of intelligence I see in the running of United is draining my enthusiasm rapidly.

Two days 'til renewal and I'm still putting it off!

Me too, actually! No doubt I will succumb, as usual. Never a pleasure; Always a chore!

The plain fact is , we just suffer from lack of investment , I wont join condemning mccabe as he said 4/5 years ago hed leave as soon as investment came in , hes slaughtered mercilessly now , for what amounts to no one else is interested in taking us on. He has stopped us going the way of pompey coventry and look where scunthorpe are who came down with us, hes kept us solvent, and what some see as under hand , regaining the ground and such is to avoid it being out on a limb, Coventry getting docked 10 points due to another holding company that wasnt them , being declared bankrupt , if its in Scarborough holdings its safe at least for the time being, its protecting his interests yes , but also the clubs, but its the real lack of fresh blood thats leaving us treading water.
But we are one of 70 /80 clubs in the same boat, juggling finances , wendies for instance , only spent the extra tv revenue they get in the championship on players, mandaric hasnt put in millions, they are in dire shite if they fall back again,
The teams that have gained some form of even modest investment , like brentford and bournemouth show it pays dividends, we have only had mccabe for a decade, no one else has put a bean in, West brom and stoke had boards where 2 or 3 put into the pot and sustain a prem spot now, thats something we as a club have never had , ever, our previous boards biggest investments were a box of cigars for match days

This is the most unintentionally hilarious thing I have ever read on this board. No contest.

Scunthorpe are in the same Division as us, I've looked.

In his defence you can't say "look where Charlton and Watford are now! They came down with us!" any more.

Or "at least we're not Wednesday/Leeds./Southampton/Norwich/Leicester"

Not from me. I can understand the need to run the club on a balanced budget.

What I can't forgive is the way we stumble from one managerial method to another. The lack of joined-up thinking from the Academy to the first team. The spin and half-truths we're told by the chairman.

If he spoke blunt truths but did so in the context of plausible approach for improving the club, then I'd be perfectly satisfied. United can achieve things with minimal investment given patience and planning at board level.

Having you seen those things recently as they ask for our £400 for next season?

Anyway, enough of this shit. You've renewed, haven't you?

I like the

Not yet... I'll probably do it last thing tonight while listening to Radiohead and chewing a milk bottle.

I like the phsycology of it - leave it right until the last minute - to really teach them a lesson!
