It was brilliant play and had the crowd showing our appreciation and I tell you the link play near the end of the between Carruthers and Fleck was also outstanding and needs a mention
Personally, I thought the previous challenge was nothing and Samir just chucked himself to the floor. It was...everything went through Fleck in the first half, almost everything in the second. Him and Carruthers seemed telepathic at one point and that's how the move for the penalty came about. Interestingly Carruthers had been denied a free kick for a much more blatant foul in the same place but ten yards further back a few minutes before, for an almost identical interchange and run
Almost as good as this...
Frankly I couldn't give a shit but well done I guess?

For the first one, my instant reaction was to yell at Samir "stay on your fucking feet!!"So did the ref....just how it seemed to me...I thought the penalty was more likely to be a dive (shhh) and I'm not sure if it was in the area either

Owls fans will need a change of pants after watching that.............

I'll consider that grudging respect.
How many other managers would allow their right wing back make a front post run at the left in open play ?

Here's a little skit of my reactions and emotions as the move and coup de gras played out before my very eyes last night..
The initial passing phase..

Tum te tum te tum... 5...6 passes, TBW57 WhiteHawk and me are then like...

'Easy easy don't give it away in our own half!!!'
To that pass out wide and then to Billy then doing his shimmy round the defender on the goal line..

Re the penalty, I initially thought it was just on the line so was expecting a free kick rather than a penalty.
Fixed that for you. All the board have done is issue a reduced budget (as confirmed by Chris himself) in the hope that Wilder could work some magic. Luckily for them, the bloke's done just that.Fantastic stuff. How Wilder and Knill have achieved this in such a short space of time is phenomenal. Credit to theboard, management and playing staff.
The Hoofers can't resist a little dig, can they. Bring back the "3 pass rule". They may be in retreat but they'll go down fighting. It could turn ugly...or so they hope.
Wilder is one of Bassett's boys; he won't make wholesale changes, and won't need to. This squad is largely future-proof and will be successful in the Championship. Bassett stuck with the bulk of his squad to gain back-to-back promotions. To those Blades fans who whittle about our defensive frailties and say we'll need a new defence for next season - we conceded 54 goals in that 1988/89 promotion season; so far we've conceded 42, so probably won't be that much different by the end of this season. You can only judge football players and teams in their own time zone of course but this squad is considerably slicker on the ball than Bassett's team, and I think this squad is stronger. We may or may not be over-reliant on Billy's goals, but Bassett was very fortunate to have Deane and Agana to play his style of football.
