Parking at the Ricoh arena

Be my first time at the skyblues new home tomorrow, can anybody that went last year tell me where to park. Be getting there around 6ish, don't want to get to near ground hopefully.
 



There's a Tesco close by the stadium, I parked there during the promotion season (the game that we lost but was described as the 'turning point' in our bad run at the time, IIRC)

It's a walk up the hill to the ground, but is near an away friendly pub and is usually a quick get away.
 
I'm bumping this old thread because I'm going to the Ricoh on Thursday. (Foxy your link above doesn't work any more). Any recommendations on places to park?

can't help you and I'm not going, just love a good ancient thread bump!
 
They could fit a fair few away supporters cars where their main stand is currently, don't think they'd miss it as there's hardly anyone using it this season!

I've got to get my commission one way or another, shush. It is a joke price tbh, there's hardly any street parking around the ground and the stadium is about a 10 minute drive from the actual city centre. Piss take.
 
As an exile this is a localish game for me

Parking around arena is difficult

As said elsewhere, and advised by Coventry supporting associates, use Tesco at your own risk - varies from game to game but is well stewarded and they will fine

I have used this site in the past for wasps games and they are pretty good

They use nearby school, factory sites etc

In case thursday's game gets dull by the time we're six nil up we can always sing:

Anyone on public transport - it's a walk through the city centre to the bus station, then bus 4 out to the Tesco Arena.

In the past I remember hearing that they shut the Coventry Arena train station on matchdays because thanks to some genius the (brand new) station wasn't designed with the capacity to deal with large crowds. (No risk of one of them when Cov are at home obviously). Not sure if this is still the case, thetrainline website has a train arriving at the Arena station from Cov central station shortly before the match - but i don't think there's one after final whistle so it'd be a bus back to town anyway.
Deddington maybe you've got local knowledge on the Coventry Arena train station situation?
 
I stayed in the hotel last season so got free parking ,but went to see Springsteen in the summer and it was unbelievable. No parking within any sort of walking distance , a terrible park and ride which resulting in thousands missing up to 90 minutes of the concert or designated car parks within a 2 mile perimeter which started at £20 and went up to £35. said I would never set foot in the place again (especially after a night out in Coventry) ,still undecided about Thursday ,but must admit the parking situation is pushing me towards the TV.
 
I found that one of the 'more hidden' options via the Ricoh Arena parking website was just £3 last season (I've just checked the old e-ticket as i thought the £10+ seemed far more than I would have coffed up), it was Car Park 1, 'Christ the King' (a lads footie team), 10 min walk from ground and easy to get in and out. Only positive from a pretty shit away day as I recall...

I've just pre-booked into a Ricoh car park, £3. Probably 10-15 min walk to the Ricoh. Cheers for your help.
 
Parked in the wayside car park last season, about a 15 min walk to ground. Advertised price last season was £1.50 - but that was the advance purchase price, paying at the entrance was a lot more expensive (£6 or £7 I think?). We pulled up just outside the car park, pre-booked online and then flashed our £1.50 e-ticket....

I really hope you're wrong about this as I'm due to be catching a train from Coventry Arena to Nuneaton at 21.50 and change there for the train back to Euston.
 
I'll be parking on my drive and watching the game courtesy of Kodi on Firestick.

Enjoyed my visits to Highfield Rd way back,but Coventry is an utter,utter toilet.
 
In the early days of visiting the Ricoh, we always used to find on-street parking round the end of Wilsons Lane as you come off the M6. No idea if that still exists. (We got the coach last season to sup elsewhere and paid to park before that.)

According to TheTrainLine, you should be ok. If you're genuinely stuck, send me a message, I can give you a lift to Nuneaton. I'm heading back to Leicester after the match and Nuneaton would only be a minor diversion.

I've read up on this a bit and the reports from when the station opened at the start of this year seem to be implying that no extra trains are laid on for matches, just that the normal timetable will apply with trains with a capacity of 75.

More recently they are saying that they will be laying on larger trains for matches "by christmas 2016":

So it *may* be a case of elbowing your way to the front of the platform to be sure you get on.

On my way to the game last season, i went to my local station (10 mins away from Coventry) and the staff couldn't even figure out how to issue me a ticket for Coventry Arena, so i ended up on the bus - on reflection this might however have been a message from the gods trying to tell me to stay the f**k away from what was the most dismal performance in the history of football. Redemption tomorrow please

My mates a Coventry fan and has suggested the following:

'The Hub is on Wheelwright Lane CV6 4HH! The other car park is on Winding House Lane (which you will probably go down to get to the hub) Either car park is good, and if you walk down Winding House Lane towards A444 you will see the Ricoh'

The Hub is £5 apparently.

Thanks BOT, I think I'll be ok with the above info or alternatively, Highfield Blade's offer of a lift to Nuneaton.
I missed last season's game here thankfully but I share the same opinion of the Ricoh as a lot of Blades on here, It really is a soulless, mausoleum of a stadium. Terrible place.
