Ofocurse the 3 points were desperatley needed!

However.... anybody still annoyed? or worried that we still didnt actually score a proper goal?

Whatever anybody says Cheds goal was offside.. and the other 2 pens.. doesn't look very good in my eyes?

I still found myself constantly shouting at how crap we were playing, the defending was shameful, not much creativity bar reid and britton had an ok game. Finishing once again lacking... i really dont think things are looking up that much, anyone else?

We are starting to build momentum, confidence and consistency under the best young manager in the league.......what could possibly go wrong?

I wish it were that easy to say.. confidence? hmmm not sure about that one.
Confidence is when one of your players runs at a defence and smashes a shot from outside the box, or beats a few players and crosses in for a striker to finish.

A confident player is someone likek Adam Hammil at Barnsley at the moment.. i dont see any of our players with any confidence :( the back four lack it seriously. Its the most sloppy back four ive seen for a long time. The wingers seem to have no motivation to beat players neither do the midfield or attack

To me seems like a little break untill we start the slump again with a poor team and poor tactics. Im seriously conserned about the lack of goals, as im sure everyone else is and people really need to look at the palace game and think.

Not just be happy with three "goals" which in all honesty most weeks wont happen

Get your chin up, Kempy...

:)

Hahah i wish i could mate :( Injured so I can't play football at the moment and havnt been able for a good 6 moths or over now, plus lack of goals isnt exactly exciting either... not looking good :(

Huh? Haven't we had legitimate goals chalked off for being offside in the past so this kind of evens things up. It was given so it was a goal end of.

I'm sure theres plenty of us that aren't to giddy to think that we're out of the woods. Lots of work to do but whilst we get the wins we'll build the confidence and we'll be able to continue trying to play a better brand of football.

The big question is Are we improving as a team?

It should have been 1 - 1.

Since we were cheated out of 2 points at Leicester the ref balanced things up nicely. Move on.

I can see where you're going with this, but I'm just watching the game again. As if it weren't for two good saves from Speroni, from Cresswell and Yeates, then it'd have been 5-2. I remember watching us against QPR at home, awful, truly awful. I've now seen the last two games against Milwall and Palace, and we're certainly getting better. Bring on Bristol!

Yup goals chalked of and other games aside, im really not bothered about that now. Yeah its great we have had abit of luck this time. Garuntee you it wont happen again for a while

Also that question yes is the big one and the answer is no. We still let 2 goals in ( 1 if you dont count the penalty) due to very poor defending and good finishing from opposition. We weren't creative or made much of a serious goal threat. This is also considering they had 10 men for a long peroid of time when we had 11

Broomhill?? move on.. yeah thats what im worried about.. whats next? no goals? poor defence? move on to another loss?

Since when have pens not been considered proper goals?

They all count and I for one don't care whether it's a 25 yarder, a solo run half the length of the pitch, off someones backside, or a pen. They all count and to be honest, I don't think the players or manager will be that bothered by it either.

I started a thread early on in the aseaon, approximately 6 or 7 games in regards the lack of goals we were scoring. That has continued pretty much up until now. The main thing imo, is to address that problem of scoring goals. We still have a pretty dour goals per game ratio. However, the last few games have been encouraging and I for one don't care how they go in just as long as they do.

Regards the way we are playing, I agree it's not like watching Arsenal, but I still think it's an improvemnt on watching the team under KB. I know fans see this differently and it's all about opinions, but I like what Speed is trying to do, just a shame he has one arm tied behind his back

Perhaps we'll all get a better perspective of how things are going after Xmas, still too early for me.

Yeah i see where your coming from, i didnt mean it in that way. I too do not care aslong as they go in, my concern is they arent going in and yup could of been 5-2 soton but we didnt convert the chances.

Vaughan had one chance and was a great header

But we still scored 3 goals, penalties, headers, 30yd screamers or a deflection off a knobend, they all count the same. Yes we're conceding still, but we didn't against Millwall a so called better side.

And... its the first win where we've come from a goal down, let alone 2 goals down. Its the only win this season that we've conceded in.

Lots of arguments and counter arguments.

If we're not improving then we'll be found out again soon, but on the other hand there seems to be lots of individual errors again this year. Simple things and also major feck ups. All of which are rectifiable and with a settled back four at least, we could start to see a bit of consistency.

I'm still giving it time, lots more time

Now he's one I would've liked us to sign. I think we were linked with him earlier in the season. Looks a decent front man and imo, Ched could learn a thing or two from him in terms of his movement, anticipation and positioning. Although I accept Ched was in the right posi when taking his goal (even if he was offside :) )

Yes its true i dont care how they go in, but i can't see how they are going to go in in the future. Thats my main problem. The alarming rate we are leaking them ( even if it hasnt been tooooo bad recently) is poor as well, the point made is if we have a settled back four... i can't see that happening.

Palace have had a terrible back four this season and they lost ambrose, Mcarthy, and were 10 men down.

You can't get much more of a week side, and we still needed 2 from the spot and an offside goal ( yes thats hypocritcal about how they go in) but time doesn't heal crap

Completly agree with you Blade58 - would loved to have seen Vaughen at the lane aswell. It was a cracking header even when he wasnt having the best of games.. another piece of class we lack

To be fair to Palace, I actually think they have some good young players.

I don't think they'll go down. I also think they will improve as the season progresses.

They have a half decent manager in Burley and it's reported they are to make a £500k bid for Vaughan.

Nah.

A cliche it may be but it is sometimes harder to beat 10 men than 11. Better teams than us have struggled in that situation. Considering the season we've had up to now I wouldn't have been suprised to see us crumple after Vaughns goal - we didn't; we battered em until we got a lucky goal and a pretty much justified pen.

Despite the eccentric reffing it was a fantastic game to watch (in the end!). And to be honest I'll take that at the moment.

I really have no time for this argument. In this division it's rare any team is consistently convincing. Even Newcastle, who officially pissed the league, were grim and ordinary in most games I saw them play.

What matters is consistency, putting a run of results together and being resilient. Quite frankly, we're an average team and I'll take my joy where I can get it.

UTB

Yeah they were grim and ordinary... but scored and didnt leak very many goals. Im sorry consistency is not what matters.
Cosistently losing at this rate will be our run... and if im honest i can't see much joy coming at all, although i hope you find some

haha, well today proved right :)

2 pens against us.. shit definding.. and not much attacking threat... briiiiilliiannnt :)
Did we look like scoring nah.. bye bye this so called consistancy from 2 games :)
We are even worse then palace, i know we had a man sent off earlier than they did but we made nothing and didnt have our supposed most creative players out (reid) unlike palace who had Amrbose out... just shows how shit we are and how gullible and ignorant some are . ( not aimed at you Dunc)

Maybe Dunc's computer goes wonky in direct oppobrium to Lens??
