Karachi, July 19: The Pakistan Football Federation and Sheffield United Club have struck a deal to scout talent for Pakistan`s national team from the country`s United Kingdom-based pool of players.
A PFF official said they would conduct trials for the youngsters having dual nationalities in London tomorrow and the day after.
"The idea is to scout out talent for our national team from England where the football structure and competition level is so strong," the official said.
"They will allow us to use their facilities. We will also make use of their professional coaching structure," the official added.
The official said many Pakistanis have shown interest in representing the country.
"They are a lot of Pakistani nationals settled abroad and some of them are keen on representing their country in Football, which is a very popular sport abroad," the official said.
Pakistan in the past had played a British professional footballer of Pakistani origin, Zeeshan Rehman in their national team but he returned home unhappy with the way the football affairs were handled in the country.
Zeeshan, who represented Pakistan in 2005 and 2006, now plays for Brighton and Hove Albion.
He said once the players were selected the PFF would ask the English club to put them through a coaching programme.
Pakistan team is placed 152nd in the FIFA rankings.
