Paul Walker tweeted it could be Downes assisting Page....fxxxing hell if true...

Of our last six managerial appointments, not one has filled me with confidence. I don't see why that need change now. Fuck it, hire them both. And let Bassett answer the phones if he likes.

I just can't believe we're into June and we don't have it sorted. Or seemingly anywhere closer than we were at the end of the season.

It's interesting that no-one questioned Speed's experience when he got the job and Downes' has much more coaching experience (some of it highly successful) than the likes of Appleton and Robinson.

It's getting to the stage where I'm past caring who it is, I just wish they'd hurry up and do something.

^^^^^This^^^^^

Whoever it is needs to be appointed this week, we are losing so much ground by fannying about that we must be the last team in the Country to release their retained list.....

I'd take Downes as an assistant. Just depends if the guy he's under is any good and how much freedom they have to build a team.

We have released it; You just didn't notice. I reproduce it in full below:

Mickey Adams can put the balls & cones away at the end of training.

Yeah he wanted success and to please fans and McCabe said bollocks to that.

All I can think is that our initial contact enquiring how much he wanted paying put us off?

He should have been interviewed unless we really could not afford him.

Interesting decision not to "pursue" Jackett (if it's true). Was it just assumed we couldn't afford him I wonder? This is degenerating into farce now - it seems the club really don't want to give it to Morgs even though he's the only one publicly wanting the job.
On a different note - the majority of League clubs are desperate to save money, but are quite happy to swan off to the Algarve for a conference. Nice work if you can get it...

I think it's becoming increasingly clear that the wages we're offering are poor.
That would explain some of Arnold's comments, McCall's "Financial concerns", Robinson's failure to even attend an interview and our decision to "not pursue Jackett" or any other recognised manager (Coyle, Davis).
I really think this is one area where we shouldn't be scrimping and scraping.
We're basically looking for a manager who can work a miracle and deliver promotion, while slashing the wage bill, selling players to raise funds and also improving our youngsters.
That's a pretty tall order for any manager, however talented and experienced.
To then offer wages that would only attract a novice whose desperate for a chance, is ultimately a false economy and seems doomed to failure.
