I was out last night with someone who works for a sporting organisation. They told me that, at the same time Paddy failed his drugs test, a leading Premiership player also failed theirs. Paddy was 'thrown under the bus', so to speak, to keep the heat off this other, higher profile player, whos positive test has been swept under the carpet thus far.

I don't know that I see how this works. Won't Paddy's case just mean that there's even more concern when the higher profile player's failure is announced? And how can the player who's failed the test be allowed to carry on playing? (A litigious club may be inclined to visit the courts...)

Ah, that makes a bit more sense.
In that case this wouldn't suprise me - Prem League is crooked as anything.

Grecian,

I'd remove those names ASAP if I were you, could be considered libelous.

I've reported the post to Linz and Foxy just in case you aren't online as well.

I don't understand how 'throwing Paddy under the bus' would keep the spotlight off the more high profile player. Surely the opposite. Everytime an offence in football occurs everyone goes sniffing around for same people doing the same thing. Perfect example of Matt Le Tissier today admitting to kick the ball out for a throw in to win a bet, already Talksport are insinuating that it was rife in the game in the 90's. Even on the playing side, Eduardo going for a dive has prompted the Daily Mail to start a 'Ban Diving' campaign!

can we start a 'ban the daily mail' campaign?

Springboard or High Diving - Double Twist and Pike stc

IF Paddy is banned for at least this season (which I fully expect), are we allowed to keep Bunn as an emergency loan therefore not effecting our quota?

The whole hearing thing has been shockingly handled the way that the transfer window has now shut and we still don't know if we need a replacement.

Paddys agent requested a delay - it seems to me that there was no thought to the club in this matter:(

In fairness it wasn't exactly helped by Paddy and his team asking for a postponement.

Well if what I heard from an ex-player at the Lane is true, Paddy is bang to rights anyway using it for a weight loss aid.

The only part that doesn't fit is if this ex-pro has this information then the club must also have it, yet haven't gone for a permanent replacement.

Ephedrine is also commonly mixed with Cocaine to bulk up the Coke but staying in the system for a lot longer than Coke does.

Im not saying this is how it ended up in Paddy's system, but i often wonder how players fail drug tests for Ephedrine

Maybe there wasnt a keeper available permanently who was better than Bunn. Id rather have the best we can have temporarily than second best permanently.
