A target according to The Sun.

Quite an unsurprising one if so, given his ability to play at RCB and in midfield. Good age, good height and decent on the ball, but did have a quite a bad injury recently.

Middlesbrough are likely to be willing to sell the likes of him.

Would make sense but yeah, not an exciting one

Worship me as your god, Ricky. ;)

6th May 2018.......

I doubt he'll come back from his latest injury at a suitable standard, as two ACL's on the same knee in 18 months puts a career in balance, but i would've taken Watmore from Sunderland. 24 yrs old, not the greatest technical player in the world, but very Milneresque. Great attitude, work rate, engine & endeavour. Paddy McNair is another from Sunderland, 23 yr old, Northern Irish international who can play centre mid and CB & WB if needs be. He's scored 5 in 16 for a shit side this season, 4 of which were in the last 5 games. Also had an ACL tear in the last 12 months.

we do need a few in, 3 starters and the rest will probably be covers and hopefully upgrades on Johnson,Washington,Coutts and the players out on loan. Loans added and we 're at 25/26 players.

I don’t have an issue with signing players like McNair and Sinclair as cheaper buys as squad players as long as we have some quality first choice signings up our sleeve.

If all our signings are this type of player, I’ll be very worried about next season.

So not good enough for them in La Liga but good enough fort PL.

Cold porridge being linked with us for every position, CWAK will be the messiah and his dad if they can pull this one off

Good enough for them, but not a key player and they may be want to recoup the fee to help finance themselves now they're without parachute payments.

I’d be for this signing for a reasonable price. We genuinely don’t have an out and out defensive midfielder at the club.

Is there any fucker left that we haven't been linked with?

An old article but based on this he could be competition for Basham as well

Interesting - sounds very much like Basham’s role for us as you say. I was hoping we’d be looking for a major upgrade in that position though & I’m not sure McNair really is that. I don’t remember ever being particularly wowed by him.

A quick squizz at the Boro forums suggests they wouldn't want to lose McNair....

Sinclair....I would take him as a squad player, does have a bit of pace....as long as he's not a budget Maupay/McBurnie option.

He would be a solid enough player and would handle the Premier League without too much of a sweat. Solid if unspectacular signing if true, but thats where we need to be at this moment. We need to build up our squad to be a solid Premier League one i.e. like Burnley over a period of time. McNair is also young enough to grow with us and develop his game. He cant have been a mug successfully coming through Newton Heaths youth system.

Didn't Brighton put a big bid in for him last year?

Middlesbrough outbid them and paid £5m for him last Summer.

He’s versatile, and could probably cover / compete with Basham and Baldock. Just think we need to be aiming a little higher in these positions.

Apart from both of them getting splinters on their arses, you mean.

Repeat after me 'we are in the premier league '... surely we expected better than this when we went up? Boro fan at work says hes average, he only started 7 games for them in the championship. If these Sinclair and McNair rumours are correct it shows how little money Wilder has to work with.

This is all great, but before Fleck came, there were Cov supporters saying he was only capable of passing sideways. According to Ipswich supporters, McGoldrick (who had barely played in the last couple of seasons) was past his best and his legs had gone. Egan according to Brentford supporters was not close to the standard required for a club chasing promotion and their other defenders were immensely better. Boro supporters actually laughed at us for taking Cranie on.

Of course, often supporters are right; see Johnson and Washington. But it's certainly on reason to write a player off.

I'm not overly keen on the idea of Sinclair, but I think McNair would be a very solid back-up option.

Take comfort from CW having the best recruitment track record of any manager I’ve ever seen at SUFC ;)

No it doesn't.
