Paddy Decision, FA docs

I have just read the full decision of the committee and find myself thinking that Paddy is a lucky, lucky boy to only be suspended for 9 months. He clearly is not very bright, although we knew that already! The club does not come out of it well either and the committee make scathing remarks about when the club arrange for anti-doping talks to take place, i.e. after training sessions when everyone is knackered and not in a good state to pay attention. All in all he got off lightly.

Should Paddy Appeal to CAS

Just a question, I read this morning that Chelsea have had their transfer ban suspended as they have appealed to CAS.

Seeing as though we're probably already hated by football authorities for the Tevez affair. Should Paddy try and take the FA to CAS over the length of his ban and/ or his ban from training with the team?

Personally I think he should have just accepted his ban and got on with it quietly and I'm not sure if any appeal against the appeal is allowed, but just interested on what people think.

The other side of me just wants to cause as much fuss as possible whenever possible with footballs 'old boys club' authorities.

I think it would be futile for Paddy to appeal again personally. The rules were quite clearly there and I think 9 months is about right. I've heard people in the media say that our FA is far too strict compared to other nations, I think it's more a case of the others being too soft personally. All in all it's working out ok for Paddy, he'll be able to play (or participate) in just under six months I think and has got a new contract on the table when I guess a few months ago he was contemplating what the future would hold for him.

I also agree with the other poster on this thread about the way United came across in the report, I hope this has been the kick in the arse for all concerned!

I would say leave well alone.

If you read the reasons for the decision to ban him for 9 months you realise that it's probably a fair decision given Paddy's blatant disregard for proper procedure when taking medication, given that he is a professional footballer of many years experience. If he was a young lad you could perhaps be a little more lenient. I would worry that further appeal committees would scrutinise the punishment and put it up to the maximum of 12 months.

Paddy admitted that he did not read the box or leaflet with the medication and had also taken over the recommended dose, this coming after seeing the club doctor and not adhering to the treatment that he recommended. He admitted to not paying attention to anti-doping literature and talks from the FA over his career. All in all he comes across as stupid. As a senior pro he should be well aware of what he can and can't take and should ensure that any medication he takes is above board. In not doing this he has let evryone down, not least himself. He should accept his punishment and keep himself fit ready to come back in April and fight for his place. He's an idiot, but he's our idiot!

Offering Paddy a new contract just goes to show that there aren't many good keepers around and Paddy realistically is the best available (or not!!) to us.

I still think we could do better than kenny but have no problems with us offering him a new deal if it's on the right terms for us as a club. Just because it hasn't been plain sailing for Bunn and 38 year old bennett doesn't mean that Kenny's the messiah. I still think Bunn's been made a bit of a scapegoat by KB. Realistically he's better than bennett and bennett has no long term future with us. There's so much more to the goals we've been shipping than just our goalkeeper and with monty missing we've conceded an unprecedented (for some time) 11 in the last 4 games. Add to that Kilgallon missing games and playing poorly in others and i think bunn was treated unfairly.

Also it would be nice if kenny realises that there wouldn't be many teams who would stand by him for his indiscretions and will be nice if we have no further tantrums, walkouts or come and get me pleas like we saw early in the year.
