Pace yesterday

Yes pace was needed to turn their defenders.

Burke is not a footballer. I agree that a decent forward with pace is what we need. Mousset is probably the best option we currently have, and that says it all. If we had signed the likes of Dennis or David, we may still be in the Premier League.

Have to say think Burke should have been used last 20mins. There back five were very slow and knackered. Don't rate Burke but he might have made a difference yesterday. Poor management in my opinion
The only time to use Burke, if he is to be used at all, is when the opposition are chasing the game later in the second half.

Pace was needed in the first half. We were too slow in build up play and too Conservative.
Bring Burke on late would have done nothing when we were in the ascendancy and pinning them back.

Teams seem to realise we lack pace and off the ball running, meaning they can press us higher up the pitch, with little worry about us getting in behind.

This leads to our defenders or midfielders getting on the ball deep in our half, being closed down, before hitting a hopeful ball to a forward - always with his back to goal. This player is challenged and unable to do much more than (at best) passing the ball backwards. We struggle to get anywhere.

I think our plan was to dominate possession, play in their half, and try to cut through them with the ability of Ndiaye/MGW/Bogle and finishing of Sharp. But we're just not good enough to play this way. Opposition teams only have to be competitive and reasonably organised to be quite comfortable.

McGoldrick coming on for Ndiaye didn't do much in terms of adding pace, but a disappointing first half and a half time substitution seemed to bring a bit more urgency and movement.

Didn't say he was the answer, just an option that we had on the bench. Sharp was getting physically beaten by there 3 centre halfs in the 2nd half. We had literally nobody with any pace involved Saturday , apart from Burke
