They fkin love havin a go at CW don't they?

They hate him with a passion

I find it bizarre the amount of hatred they have for him.

They could easily still be playing non-league football if It wasn't for Chris.

My favourite in this selection must be "working under Wilder is a challenge for any player. He’s not exactly Mr Personality". That from a set of fans who have coined the phrase "MApp" whom they deem to be blessed with everything from charisma to a football brain and exceptional vision.

Has anyone ever heard MApp raise his voice beyond a whisper? Fantastic view... :p

Really hope we get them away in cup, last minute winner, then wilder goes all mourinho running down touch line

Looks like they have some bitterness towards Wilder & i think I'll wait & alt to see for myself what he's like . Strange how they make Appleton sound like the messiah & forget the man who got them back into the football league ?

Shit!
I thought he was a ball winner? The Oxford fans say he can't tackle.

What we do need to bare in mind though is that Oxford fans are delusional pricks.

Would love to know what Wilder did to them to have left that level of bitterness. Their view of him is almost exactly opposite that of just about every Blade.

"I don’t think Wilder, with the way he likes to play football, will start a cultured midfield playmaker very often."

What the actual fuck?

Its always interesting that when we sign a good player at another club that the one they've still got who hasn't got a move upwards is suddenly the better player of the one that gave the one we've just signed the freedom to play! You have to remove the bias that hey have against Wilder to tell that basically he's like Paul Coutts! Good passer long and short, decent work rate seems to come up a few times which is obviously essential. Welcome to the Lane John!

Give us your all, show the Blades you're proud to wear that shirt, show the fans you've got balls and your talent will shine through to take care of the rest! Part of the above was once said to Bob Booker by Mich Rooker! That turned out well, although Lundstram is obviously a different type.

And I saw one comment on their forum
'When Wilder was manager got sick of us going 1-0 up, then we'd sit back defending in numbers trying to hold on to a 1-0 lead.
Never known such a negative manager and it doesn't help that he had no personality".

Double what the fuck!!!!!
That's a discription of Clough in his 2nd season and Adkins.
Wilder has been like a breathe of fresh air, always positive attacking football. Great personality too.

I think Lunny would be huge loss for us because our style of play revolves around him. It would also be shame for him because I don’t think Wilder, with the way he likes to play football, will start a cultured midfield playmaker very often. “

Clearly they didnt see us very often as both of our midfield are cultured !!

Would be that the footballing god MApp? The one who fucked them off a month ago to be an assistant at Leicester City. Yet they remain salty that Wilder ditched them for Northampton.

"he is always the one player demanding the ball and never hiding. His work rate is also second to none"

Screened out the silly anti-Wilder crap, concentrated on this pearl instead ^

Wilder knows how to pick em for this club.

(P.S. Eyup 1danewhitehouse - bet you'll be delighted with this one - recall you advocating on Lundstram's behalf for a long time now.)

Yep. Good thing tufty listens to me ;). Said sigh Mark Duffy. Sign John Lundstram. Bin Jay O Shea and have Brooks competing with Duffy and Carruthers. It's all coming together. Just need to replace Hanson with someone more mobile now and I'll be pleased as punch.

When we were interested in him it was he's amazing he can do better than SUFC.

Then as time goes on it's more of a case of he's not that good.

CW took Jake Wright from them for FREE!! Let's get this right they gave us there best centre half for FREE!

This one we have to pay for imagine how good he must be.

I followed Wilder when he was at Oxford. As ever he was totally open to the supporters about his own performance and the state of the squad and any progress made and it was very slow at the time. I remember him apologising one year for assembling an unbalanced squad and signing players with past fitness issues which had emerged again. There was a period when his job was at risk and he would have gone had he not had such a special relationship with the owner of the club.

As I remember, when he accepted the Northampton job it was a big shock to everyone. Oxford had settled a bit but not really motoring and some thought Wilder was lucky to find a way out.

I've followed Wilder from afar all through his managerial career. He did great at Halifax and clearly laid some foundations at Oxford, it can't be true to say the 'wonderful Appleton' did it all.

Wilder's success at Northampton was amazing and it was not there on a plate for him. Funds were tight and a potential takeover of the club in the balance until he made a public plea to the owners post one match in a famous interview.

Wilder's success at Bramall Lane was equally, if not more amazing. My personal opinion is that Wilder has matured as a manager, knows his job now after over 700 games, knows how to assemble a balanced squad, knows a player, is a good bloke who is sincere and honest to players and fans, knows how to respond to defeats and celebrate wins, knows the game inside out especially at L1 and L2 levels.

All well and good but my opinion of the biggest strength Wilder has since Oxford is his working relationship with Alan Knill, another good bloke who knows the game and players inside out and a man entirely suited to being assistant to someone like the brash Wider, a balance, a calm experienced head and a wise counsel. All Wilder's big successes have been with Knill these past 2 years. Previously he never got the sack but never won anything in the Football League anyway.

Inexperienced managers can and do have faults and make many mistakes over the years as the Oxford fans well know. They can also drop into a job and situation that offers them a big opportunity to realise their full potential and everything has come together for Wilder and Knill.

I remember reading comments over last 12 months about AK does all the coaching / training / tactical / set pieces side of the game. I think the main thing is that AK has been a manager and has said he prefers to being an assistant. Which must be good for CW knowing he hasn't got someone trying to stab him in the back and take his job. Like Shakespear at Leicester.

Obviously they work well together if CW knows he had a good coach let him do the coaching CW can do everything else.

Whatever is happening it's working from Bury days where they took a team from relegation zone to 3rd in the table, to back to back promotions and 199 points over two seasons.

They've got a reyt bit of man love going on with Michael Appleton, sorry, "MApp" haven't they!

Speaking of which, I saw him in the dugout other day when Leicester played Liverpool. Seriously bulked up. He is huge!! He also sports two sleeve tattoos which seem to have been covered up wearing his suit on the touchline..

I take nearly everything that Oxford fans say with a pinch of salt. The vast majority of them are extremely bitter about Wilder leaving them and it permeates into anything and everything to do with him. Even if Wilder won the champions league they'd still be in denial about his ability.

Tomorrow man, where as Wilder is a dinosaur , If I ever have the misfortune to speak to someone who supports Oxford, I will treat them with the same distain I reserve for the lot from south Barnsley.

Oh I say Tarquin, that Mr. Christopher Wilder is a chimpanzee from the northern regions of this fine country. Don't you agree?

From what I've heard, other than the studenty parts, they're actually rough as arseholes in Oxford.

It's true. Blackbird Leys has a bad rep. Other than the University, it's main economy was based around making cars, which we do a lot less of these days so it suffered similar problems to Sheffield due to the decline in manufacturing.
Enough of the socio-economics though, they're still dicks.

Maybe this is why Tufty is different.

Maybe what they describe is what he was.

Maybe he has seen that, changed and improved as a result.

In my eyes it is his willingness to accept failures quickly, to learn, to change and to move on that makes him special.

4-4-2 to 3-5-2, Hussey to Lafferty to Stephens ....
