Apart from the goals he’s really impressed me as a player.

Looks at home on the right wing, and very comfortable in attacking situations. I’d be tempted to keep him in and around the place if we’re looking to change the shape rather than sending him on loan. He could easily break through. Seems a natural.

Next product out the factory door?

I'd like to see us bring in some players who have first team experience out wide. I think the likes of he and Brooks have done well so far, but we're having to put square pegs in round holes currently for those positions, especially on the left now that Traore has gone (a deal which I agree with, but unfortunately sees us lose the man who looked the most natural fit for a LW role in the squad).

Hampson could certainly be one to be in and around the squad and competing for places, but I'm not fully sold on him yet. Yes he's done well with the time he's been given so far, but we shouldn't go getting carried away over a couple of bright cameo appearances from the bench.

In a perfect world where we had the funds to do so, I'd want us to go and get Morgan Whittaker from Plymouth to be first choice on the right wing. Maybe we use a loan to get in a young PL talent or something instead though.

I came away from it last night thinking more or less the same thing.

I can quite easily see him and Louis Marsh both having breakthrough seasons similar to way Arblaster did it last season.

We’ve been lucky enough to support a club that consistently brings through young talent who go on to become top class players and I think these two lads are the next ones on the conveyor belt

Thought Hampson had another good game last night along with Seriki and Sachdev. I would rather give these lads along with the likes of Marsh and One a chance rather than bring in some of the free transfers we have been linked with who would only block their pathway to the first team.

Forgot to mention Peck has also looked good.

We've done well recently in picking up players released by the top academies and adding them to the best of our own. Hampson is a Manchester graduate, Peck came from Arsenal and Sasnauskas (who's been praised elsewhere) from Chelsea. It bodes well and speaks highly of our youth scouting network.

Can't judge too much on pre season, but he looks no worse than his teammates

Very good player.

Should play cup games for us this season and make a few sub appearances when games are won.

Let's take things back a notch and calm down a bit. Every pre-season we play some kids and people over react and exaggerate how good they are.

Last summer people on here were saying that Harrison Neal and Louis Marsh should be in the Premier League squad because they did well against National League side Chesterfield. Even Sachdev was getting talked up by our fans.

So far we've played a National League side and two League Two teams. Yes Hampson has done well, but there is a HUGE difference between League Two the Championship.

Let's give praise where it's due but not get carried away.

Agree, think I put on the Brewster thread though, he is doing what Brewster needs which is playing with a bit of confidence and finishing with confidence. Hopefully he can use this preseason to get some forward movement what ever that might be (U21s, loan or on fringe of first team).

Christ on a bike! If Traore looked the most "natural" fit for the LW role it was no wonder last season was so shit....

They’d have to be truly exceptional to make an impact in a promotion challenging side. If that’s what we want to be…

A few months on loan and we’ll know much more.

The one thing I see in Brewster is a Premier League strikers instinct. He often gets his shots off early or strikes it first time where others will take a touch or two before shooting. With Brewster he's more likely to catch the keeper off guard, especially with the power in his shots. There's definitely a goal scorer in there, he just needs a goal or two to build his confidence and a decent run of games.

Yeah, I'm suggesting he should become our key attacking playmaker, and we should give him the number 10 shirt.

That's what's happening.

Watched him for the unders and always felt he was under the radar. Think he is a player that won't lose composure at first team level, which is one of the most important attributes required. Plenty of our youth stars take time to develop/regain composure at first team level but have a feeling Owen will keep that in his locker from day 1.

Another one who is perfectly fine as squad depth, but who half the people here would rather be rotting at Doncaster while we bring in a veteran (on veteran's wages) to sit on the bench instead because scared of negatives

Osula and Jebbo have going around for a fair amount of time and I think actual playing would have been better for all involved

Indeed. Look I'm not stupid, Rhian has struggled big time. With injuries and confidence and form.

But because of his injuries I'd like to see him stay as close to the box as possible. Don't ask him to be a big part of build up, or drop deep. He's a natural finisher.

With the 3 deep forwards behind the striker playing a high energy role, there's going to be a lot of opportunity for cameo and sub minutes and potentially starts. Could be 6 players involved in one game across that line.

It's great to see a few of the young lads staking a claim to be part of that rotation.
