You probably weren't there today but it was the clearest indication yet of what's coming next season unless you get a grip of this club.
You now have a team that will struggle to stay up next season.
You also have a team and manager who is going to drive away more season-ticket holders than you could ever imagine.
Assuming you need to take even more money out, you need to think about how this is going to be achieved.
I'd suggest your best bet is by showing some leadership and telling the punters exactly what you and SUFC are trying to achieve.
A change of manager is an absolute must but it's more than that.
Where are we going? How are we going to get there?
At the end of this season, we're going to have about 11 pros left on the books.
While that's a problem in one way, it's also a huge opportunity to a new manager coming in with a brief to change the way we play the game.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be a big name, just a manager with some nous.
But staying as we are with Blackwell is going to kill off the interest of thousands of fans and you'll find it much harder to get your cash back.

The shame is, we had a glorious chance this season. The selling of Naughton, Walker and Kilgallon destroyed it.
Who was responsible for turning us into a selling club again?

Are you blaming McCabe for not extending his loans to SUFC?

I don't think it's McCabes call, I would think it will be Birch's which is why it was interesting to see Speed with him in the stands.

when companies are struggling, the chief steps up to give his vision for the future.
step to the microphone Mr. McCabe, we're all ears.

"Over to you Mr McCabe", what? McCabe ordered this.

Is it me who only se`s that this club is being set up as a saleable item?

"Come and get yourself a football club, minimum bank debt with assets to cover what there is ,solid crowd base ,clean sheet as far as the squad is concerened with only nine contracted players and the majority of those on small potatoes money wise"

McCabe wont be sacking anyone in the next three years (Blackwells contract time)because Blackwell will do the job McCabe needs him to do until he off loads i.e keeps the club going and avoiding relegation .

Hopefully Birch will find him a buyer and some investment takes place ,otherwise we will get someone like O`Driscol who we ,being the fickle feckers we are will be booing when he doesnt work the miracles we all seem to think hes capable of ,bit like the Donny fans were when he first went there

Feck me, a brain!! :)

Who in their right mind would want to invest in a football club? Impossible to make a good return on your investment.
So you invest and build property with a high potential rate of return hoping to host some lucrative world cup games and your local council turns instead to a derelict property on the edge of town....

Give me a rich sheikh literally swimming in oil or a Russian oligarch desperate to spunk money left right and centre over anybody in their right mind any day.:D:D:D

I'll bite. Can you, or anybody, explain how the world cup games would be lucrative for us? Given that we'd need to significantly redevelop 2 sides of the ground (£25M?) for the WC alone, how would "up to" 15% of ticket revenue for 3 matches make it lucrative?

It's not a dig, it's a genuine query into why anyone wanted us to be a WC venue.

Next three years?
Nothing official has come out about season ticket sales yet but they must be massively down.
Cold hard commercial sense will see Blackwell leave the Lane, possibly before the end of the season, to encourage people that there is another future than the one currently on offer.
SUFC is a business trying to make money. Keeping Blackwell is going to lose the club large amounts of money.

Well those guys do it for the prestige, which I'm afraid Sheffield clubs don't have.

My point is you cant lose what you dont spend
The squad as it stands is costing feck all ,another set of nobodies signed in the close season on next to nowt wages and finishing mid to lower table is a result for mccabe until he either sells out or his property world picks up
The debt wont change that much over the next three years ,its owed to him anyway and the hotel "mortgage " is covered ,copthorne or any other hotel chain will snap our hands off if we put the hotel up for sale .

Mccabe sees Blackwell doing a good job for him ie keeping the club barely afloat on little to no investment and asking how high when McCabe says jump

Get used to it Blades this league is the very best we can hope for under this regime

Share option not taken, McC's loans are covered by the Tevez money. Should he loan again?

Not if he's looking to get out, does make sense to anyone that. I would guess McC has struggled to raise money as the value of his assets have dropped.

So where has he got finance from?

SUFC

Trouble is this is old ground and we the fans couldn’t give two figs about McC’s money problems only the team.

A new brush is wanted but would the new incumbent have the backing of Birch like Dooley backed Warnock? I think not so the light at the end of the tunnel is a present either a speck or not yet visible.

To drive things forward does need a change.

No re-newing for me.

The £25M to re-develop the ground would need a builder to spend it on. Does McC know one?

Wonder whose back pocket that £25M would end up in?

Let me guess?

I think that's the long and short of it. If it's bricks and mortar, McCabe has a vision. If it's football, he's lost. The WC bid was just another excuse to redevelop.

It's all about prestige, exposure and good press.
This attracts the investors that allow you to grow your buisness.

I think you're right in that they were our reasons. And I think it's a totally ridiculous way to squander 25,000,000 pounds. We've got enough debt, enough infrastructure, enough promises of jam tomorrow. We want something now - and if we can't have that we don't want ever more debt and interest payments bleeding us of whatever we do have now. What''s more, I'd question if we even want new investors - because that just means more debt. It's time to build with what we have.

Alco.Months, even weeks ago, you could not have written that without a torrent of posters coming on and citing Hasimi, Woolhouse, Brearley et al. What's changed?

It's not rocket science Trig :-)

I never supported the WC bid, but only of late has my support of McCabe fallen away.

For me, the realisation that we'd built everything with a moutain of debt did it. But I think the majority just need someone to blame - and it's increasingly difficult to lay everything that's wrong at Blackwell's door.

Len, are you going to email that to McCabe? If not, then it's wasted. Seriously, get it sent to him son...

As far as I'm concerned McCabe is more to blame for our current plight than Blackwell. Blackwell simply isn't up to it - in a way he can't help that. But the way that McCabe has allowed the club to get into this dire position is scandalous. Ok times are hard - but with the Tevez millions, big ST sales and 25,000 crowds we should not have had to sell our best 4 players within the space of 12 months. Nor should we have to rely on loans to put a team out.

His failure to communicate with us fans is appalling. The time and money he has wasted on tin pot clubs all over the world is laughable.

He claims to be a Blade but comes across as anything but. I've never known such a gulf between the club and the fans. The evidence suggests McCabe doesn't give a sh!t & personally I wish he would fxck off and take Blackwell & Ellis with him and let's get back to being a passionate football club again rather than a vehicle for his propertly & business aspirations.

Spot on Deano. Pure scandal. I assume you'll have Duncan Disorderly on in a bit saying al of this is nowt to do with McCabe and it is just general economic circumstances.

McC needs to push his building plans where the sun don't shine and sort it out on the fucking pitch!!!!
