My hope is pretty much the polar opposite, and that we don't bring in roster cloggers to delay their development at the level that we want them to play at
I don’t think many of them are at the level we need them to be yet, if any are good enough then by all means give them a go.

Osula didn’t seem to benefit last season by being with us instead of at a level where he could gain confidence and score goals, Brooks did for a few games then suffered. Both would have benefited from a decent loan spell.

How can you enjoy it as much as you should when you know you have short sighted and incompetent owners in charge.
Hated last season and disliked the latter Wilder season first time round, apart from that, great times. Usual Blades up and downs. Everybody said we needed a complete reset, well here it is. As said,I will reserve judgement for a few weeks.

Seriki supporting Brooks down the right was a great combination. Seriki has loads of good attributes. He can switch off on occasions and while he's a good one on one defender he also needs to work on his defensive positioning.
Too right Bergen! Kyle Walker had that weakness and still does to some degree.
Maybe it's a consequence of there pace with them being asked to push on at every opportunity! So exciting to watch! Just the vulnerability is exposed with there lightning bursts forward. On balance i will take that.

Hi Stegosaurus here

Shame we'll let them go for two bob when a big team comes sniffing. Pointless having an academy if we're going to let them go for a handful of peanuts thrown our way whilst Spurs, Everton, Villa or whoever get a player whose worth 20 million+ a few years down the line.

You've admitted more than once that you're a pig so why not fuck off back to your own teams board and bore the tits off them instead? We have a good academy, we develop good players and we aren't a selling club any more. Your lot on the other hand don't have a good crop of youngsters, you don't have any players that anybody else wants, truth be told you're a fucking shambles of a club.

I hope you go down this season, I hope you go bust. No pig fans in town and all that, you can't even muster owt decent up at that game either 🙈🙈🙈

Given the amount of players we’ve let go… I imagine most if not all will HAVE to be kept around

We were down like 13/14 players from last season (more if you include the 100% likely departures of bogle/souza//grbic). We’ve signed 4

I Can’t see us bringing about 10+ more that we need in. A chunk of these lads will be needed to even field an 11 aside training game
We had more than two full teams at Chesterfield and several who weren’t there. The squad was bloated and full of players who were past it or didn’t want to be here. If the season started tomorrow we could put out a credible team and obviously more are coming in.

Sas is good but only 17, though that's what age Maguire was when he made his debut. He's good but not Championship standard yet. Peck also isn't Championship standard yet and neither is Marsh, who was the stand out player last season.

Most will need a loan unless they really step up in pre-season and in any chances they're given early doors.

They did well today, albeit against League Two opponents, which is still good as our current academy level is around National League standard.

One and Marsh could do with League One loans, for me Marsh until Christmas and One for the season.

Tivan is another quality player coming through and for me he's got more potential than Freckleton and Sas.
Dovvy is the class prospect ,the kid glides across the turf and can pass a ball like a good midfielder .

It's a fairly rare thing for an academy player to break in to the first team. More than one in the same season almost never happens.

It's only natural that the fans are looking to the youth players, given all the gaps we've got in the squad, but I really hope the club aren't thinking down those lines or we're in trouble.

If the season started tomorrow: Davies, Anel, Robinson, Trusty, McCallum, Arblaster, Hamer, O’Hare, Brewster, Moore, Osula. No “kids” at all in that starting line-up and it doesn’t include Souza, Shackleton, Brooks, Curtis, Slimane. Not saying it’s a great team, but people are exaggerating how small and inexperienced the squad is and there will be more coming in.

The only really urgent positions are goalkeeper and right-back. We don’t need anywhere near 8-10 players as some are suggesting.

What I liked most about Seriki yesterday was his fearlessness regarding the press from their attacking players.

Whilst appreciating the level of the opponent, it was impressive how he always looked to beat the press, rather than just “going long” when under pressure.

Beat his (pressing) man a few a few times and on many occasions gave a simple pass before making himself available for a progressive 1-2-1. Seen enough of him now to suggest he can be our RWB for years to come, if he kicks on now.

Fingers crossed.

Peck, Marsh, Brooks and Sanauskas also looked very assured. Don’t count Arblaster as a “youngster” anymore. He was great too.

I admit to not knowing quite how far along our latest academy graduates are. I’d be very comfortable with them being involved in the first time this year.

All of them to a man are happy receiving the ball under pressure and all wanted to turn their man and make positive decisions.

Future looks bright as far as this element is concerned.

Just need to get the takeover decided one way or the other now. I’ll not hold my breath. 🫥

Truth hurts then because that is exactly what this club does because there is zero ambition
Wouldn’t zero ambition involve achieving nothing ? Recent history would suggest the ambition is well above zero.
However if you expect or hope that we will be a top half PL side then your perspective of ambition probably would be close to zero.
Ambition has to be tempered with reality.

Because he probably CHOOSES to,you know looks for positives😉
Give it a try mate and feel the difference it makes to your existence.
What you think about all day is what you become🙏👍

We sold a 14 year old to Man City last season for more money than you have received for all your academy graduates in history.

I agree with Osula. All he has proved at this level, is he can compete at a level lower than Championship. He needs to nurse that habit of scoring regularly at a lower level.
Not seen enough of Brooks to comment.

Marsh is a natural. He doesn’t need coaching in footballs skills.. He’s got them in .abundance already.
Pity about his time at Doncaster, and the injuries. He needs a loan until Christmas to let his strength develop, and he will catch up with Arblaster.

Osula hasn’t played at this level since he was a teenager and he has since played against some of the world’s best defenders in a very important year for his development. I would be taking a look at him in the championship before deciding whether to loan him.

He also looks better playing on the left of a 3. This could well be his breakthrough year.

Playing against league 2 opposition yesterday made Osula look like Mbappe

Most were impressive. Wilder will have to decide which youngsters will be allowed to go on loan or keep them as squad players.
If wilder decides we are ****ed.
The bloke is an imbecile.
His record on young players (I have been trying to post on since Christmas) is disastrous.
They were in the shop window.
He sold CHEAPLY 4 of our best young players when he arrived last time.
He inherited 5 future internationals
He did not recognize ONE as a player.
That is typical of his appalling record.
That is why Jebbison is gone. (along with McDonkey staying)
That is why Bogle has no interest in staying from two disastrous seasons under Wilder.
That is why Traore will go - to European comp stalwarts.

I’ve no idea whatsoever where to start….
