I'm just saying it's easier to forgive a tempramental talent (Glynn Hodges if you prefer?), than a player like Hendo. He's just plays the game foolishly.

I know JD and I can promise I knew what you were getting at originally. I know the comparison was more contextual than an actual like-for-like but the point I'm making is that a player's temperement shouldn't be accepted or condemned based on their ability.....

I know that in a sense I am trying to justify his negative points with positive ones as well but I dont think its any fairer to demote his worth to the team because of his aggressive nature. It has nothing to do with his ability IMO, its just part of who he is.

It might be easier to forgive a brilliant player for being rash but that smacks of double standards to me. If with Hendo, it is the principal of his behaviour then it should be the same for any other player. If people really dont like to see the sort of thing Hendo brings to the table then that should be the same for any player. We cant have a situation where "its ok, because he's quality." If Darius contributed barely anything (like Ched does) then I could understand.

Foolish is a fair word to an extent though. Ive seen him do some daft things like everyone else and been frustrated with him, but I accept thats what you'll get with him sometimes. Yes he's very aggressive but he gives as good as he gets to me and he's honest with it. I would rather have someone like him than a diving, cheating softie that tries to influence referees. Some of our forwards (like Cresswell) are a breath of fresh air.

The problem SCB is all over the pitch. Most of the current team aren't comfortable with the ball at their feet. They panic if they receive the ball if there is an opponent within 10 yards of them.
Britton is the only one who actually wants the ball in these circumstances. Our "wide" men can't deliver a decent ball into the area and we blame our mis-firing forwards regardless of who they are.

Hopefully something will come out of the meetings this weekend and some funding will be made available. However with the wage bill already loaded up we'll either need to move people out or hope McCabe agrees to spend beyond our means in the short term to cover it.
From what I understand there is at least two deals done but on hold until the wage issue is resolved but without movement by our board they won't be happening.
Personally I don't know which way to jump on this, I don't want us spending beyond our means but you can't expect a new manager to put his mark down with players which he didn't sign nor rate.

This week should be interesting nonetheless.

I can think of at least two who ought to be moved out as quickly as possible, without any detriment to the squad at all. This talentless twosome should have been offloaded in the Summer rather than offered new contracts.

Spot on Fiery. The defence is not good enough. Simple as.

Whilst accepting that the defence could improve, the fact we have turned a mere 8 goals into 12 points seems to suggest they aren't doing that bad a job in the overall scheme of things.

My choice for improvement (if such a choice were possible or practical) would be the midfield to be honest.

Completely agree with that. We would find both the attack and defence performing significantly better with better players in the middle. People are too quick to blame the latter and final thirds of the pitch because that's where goals are scored.....

Its much easier to make critical comments about those positions. Midfield is the hardest position to play IMO. You have to be able to do pretty much everything (within reason).

We'll agree to disagree on that comment. I didn't think he was fantastic, his delivery was consistently poor and he regularly left his full back exposed.

I'm glad someone else saw that. Yes, at the end of the day Yeates contribution was noteworthy, you can't argue with an assist and a goal of that quality. But indeed for most of the match he got on the ball but produced bugger all, and his corners were a string of disappointments. He had plenty of chances to put them in too, but every one was poor. In fact, I don't think we've got a decent corner taker in the squad.

I know it's churlish to say if Yeates had created and scored one at the end, it would have gone down as a poor performance, but it's true! :D

A couple of weeks ago you were whining because Speed was signing defenders......

yep, because it is less of a priority than midfield and attack. Not only that, but Speed's signings have offered little added value to the team. He's wasted wages on resources that haven't even featured in the team yet.

You're right in a way. I think the pathwork defence isn't great, but relatively it is slightly better than the midfield (and attack). the first choice defence is ok, whereas the first choice midfield is embarrassingly short. Having Monty and Ertl as attacking midfielders has made us the laughing stock of the division.

do these 'capable individuals' include mr.notworthy? if so, i am in utter disagreement.

>Hendo's propensity to get sent off is his own personal reponsibility
i'm starting to wonder if he was as pissed off at the hoofball as everyone else.. i'm interested to see how he does in a passing outfit. .he could be a revelation :-/
