Take a bow John Lundstram, very very impressive in the middle of the park once again, always showed for the ball, was quick to turn, drive forward and display a superb range of both short and long passing.

I genuinely feared for him when Coutts broke his leg, and he quickly became the only realistic, but untested replacement, whoever I think he is looking even better than Coutts, which is some compliment.

To offer some balance he was poor against Bolton.

So rather than hammer him when he plays badly, lets not get carried away when he has a great game.

I like him a lot and don't think he should be singled out in any way for the Bolton match when every fucker was awful.

He needs to get fitter for my money though. Was blowing out of his arse at the end today and it's not like he's putting in the same yards that Bash does.... though Opta stats may prove me an idiot.

He wasn’t poor against Bolton. The lad played in different positions in that game. He finished up as centre half when Stearman went off. Good asset to the team. Got a good pedigree!!

Would like to see him carry the ball and dribble through teams a bit more often if he has it in him. He’s such a big, powerful lad that he would be very hard to get off the ball and he would be terrifying for the opposition.

He’s settled in very well and in reality has been good since the Birmingham game. He’s a different player to Coutts but he’s made the position his own.

Christ on a bike, he must be like Jekyl and Hyde if he played well today

That Bolton game, I think we was collectively poor, but that is one game out of the last 5 or 6 where he has been poor, and in all the others he has made us tick.

I can handle a player having a bad game as long as it doesn’t happen too often.

Agree. He struggles when pressed and gets caught out of position.

Relatively easy with Derby’s quick balls into the channels. He’ll have tougher tests.

Well I for one certainly hope so.

I disagree. Let’s big him up massively when he does well and accept that he’ll have games where he doesn’t meet those levels.
That’s how to encourage our young players and with age and experience will come more consistency. Let’s believe in them, and support them through dips in form.
These are our young players, we don’t have to be balanced or overly critical, it’s just that some of our fans like to be inorder to seem more informed or knowledgable and that more important to them.

Bigging him up massively and overhyping him - what could possibly go wrong?!?!?

Definitely!

And as with other players (Sharp??) hammering them for a bad game or being in bad form does no one any favours!!

In the same way, going OTT and saying he's better than Coutts after a good game won't do him any favours either...

Considering a few had acted as judge ,jury & executioner after his first three appearances I’m pleased for the lad and more so who he brings to the team.
Playing better game in game out & with that comes confidence, and he’s now starting to attack the space better to.
Anybody who has played the game understands it takes time to get to know the players around you & intregrate into that system .
Long may it continue & I hope to trigger happy take a more rounded view with any incomings in this transfer window

Unfair comparing Lundstram and Coutts ,different players playing different roles.

Wouldn't say they're playing in different roles to be honest.

Lundstram did well today and will only get better. Can see why he was so highly-rated by Oxford's fans. Great signing.

Has a few years to go to get to the same age and level as Coutts, and credit has to go to Wilder and his coaching staff for continuing their ability to spot a player and then develop them further and mould them into a player capable of doing a specific job for them.

But keep going as he is and he will have proven himself as a steady championship midfield player in a year or so.

And well done to the lad himself. He was copping a bit of stick from the stands after he first came in, but he has shown he has the balls to keep bouncing back and not only that improve despite the pressure he was under.

You cant keep drawing comparisons to the win/loss ratio when Coutts was playing. Since Lunny came in the team has changed and we are getting used to different styles of play. Lunny has got better with every game and has slotted in very well so lets praise the lad for the talent and commitment he has and keep moving forward. Utb

He was first half - sloppy. I'm a big fan though on the whole.
