Do you think his family are saying "what are you doing investing in that club in that country that keeps invading our neighbours and killing our fellow Muslims?"

Not many countries are innocent in this world of ours depending upon which way your looking at it.

As you can gather I have no problems with this investment whatsoever infact Im pretty fucking ecstatic!

No need to thank me for finding it for you...

Think your teddies are here too ;)

Do me a favour and read them a story mate or tell them a nursery rhyme. Oh so long as its not Baa Baa Black sheep, someone might get offended! ;)

Funnily enough, this thread was running along quite nicely because the posters, despite having differing opinions, managed not to refer to anyone as an idiot and were discussing their opinions respectfully without resorting to a mythical "PC brigade".

Sometimes you wonder if people realise it's not what they're saying that people necessarily take issue with, but the obnoxious way in which they're saying it?

Including OURS!

It's clear that the Saudi way of life, it's rules and mores are completely different from those of a plural society like ours. That said refusing thus investment would not have one iota of effect. Looking to blame countries for their shortcomings would lead you to argue with every country. The British history of oppression, violence, human rights abuse is indeed second to none, so I would use the phrase'let him without sin cast the first stone'

Personally I welcome the investment as an opportunity to begin to alter things.

Reactions: God
I thought the Radio Sheffield programme was indicative of their attitude to anything to do with the Blades, negative and clearly unsupportive of the club.

I havent heard this report from Pig FM.
That Toby Foster is an absolute cunt of the highest order though.
Surely now is the time for us to ban RS from BL for good?

I wonder what they make of Gary Madine then?

What, you mean the player who already has an assault conviction, who had to be hauled back to court to do his community service and is currently on trial for assault and then affray one month later ?

Doubt it will be mentioned.

But surely in the interest of impartiality... Oh wait scrap that.

Surely their views are indicative of a provincial radio station who derive justification for their existence by how much controversy they can generate?

Due to the unique way the BBC is funded, as a licence fee payer if you have any particularly strong feelings about the issue and feel they have breached editorial guidelines, the complaint form is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/

I would strongly urge against a Brasseye style witchhunt however, it does no one any favours.

I would urge using this instead.

On the contrary. When we are in the CL and playing with the big boys and SWFC are lurking in the Championship we can watch Radio Pig squeam. When we get back to back promotions and do the double over our porcine rivals then we can listen to Radio Pig with pleasure as they begrudgingly cover our success. Our time will come Kev mi owd mucker, just hang in there. It'll like SwissBlade says, tha can build a reit shed wi 9 fookin bilyun. Ad be spaffin mi load wi tools a cud buy.

From what I gather Prince Abdulah is one of 4000 princes in Saudi Arabia. He is nephew of the king and maintains regular contact, but he doesn't appear to have much to do with Government policy. I agree with some of the points in the OP and if the Prince were an official, a close member of the royal family influencing Government policy or had anything to do with Saudi Arabia's horrendous human rights record then I would be very concerned. However he runs lots of different business, gambles heavily (he loves poker), loves Western sports and appears to be a very rich man leading some kind of strange playboy, entrepenerial lifestyle. From what I can see (which is not an awful lot) he is a very wealthy man, that loves sport that happens to be one of the many relatives of a murderous dictater. i could be wrong, but there appears to be little blood on his hands. I think if there was evidence that Price Abdulah had any involvement in the terrible repression of the nation then it would matter (for me at least). However, my opinion is that we should not be ashamed to have an association with this fella.

I do hope that the hotel is not going to be turned into a high class knocking shop.:) Mind we do have a solicitor with 'interesting' tastes just in case.;)

Really? Yep I'd really put us above the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, USA, China, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Iran, Burma, Cambodia etc. Now tell me were Firth Brown's ovens really fired by dissidents?

In answer to the question posed in the title of this thread , no , not to me
Compared to some of the pirates we have had running this club the guy is as good as it gets

A fantastic move by mr mcabe to bring this gentleman in. If his family and countries politics bother you, feel free to join amnesty and boycott the games.

I don't care if the bloke's got horns, cloven feet and a big trident as long as he's going to spoff some of his vast fortune on getting us promoted.

I don't care, it's all about the money. His papermills might run on dolphin's tears and dessicated unicorns for all we know. ;)

We could always get investor from a country that napalms civilians or takes people for 10 year holidays with water boarding sports to keep them occupied all without being even charged with an offence let alone convicted. Would that be alright because after all for all the counties riches there is no one living in poverty in the good old US of A is there. Would a Russia Mafia boss be a more suitable investor ? Maybe someone from China who a few year back were driving tanks over protesters in their capital city ? As the lapdog of the USA we need look no further than our own doorsteps to see abuses of basic human rights. Do I care that United have an investor from Saudi ? .............. Nah do I fuck.

Interesting the the local media (Sheffield Star & Pig FM) were bringing this mans country of birth up.

What does this mans country of birth have to do with him wanting to invest in a football team?

It just seems like they were wanting to stir it up abit.

If it was the pigs not us, im sure none of this would have been mentioned in the media.

Radio Pig and the Sheffield Pig criticising our new owner? Reyt, what a surprise.

From what I can tell, and it's not much right now, this guy who has bought into SUFC has very little to do with any suspicious history as far as I can see. I'm sure, living the Western lifestyle he appears to, he's not involved with anything shady like that. The quote that the OP posted about the young men shot by the firing squad for robbery - if that is the law of their land, then people better abide by their laws hadn't they? Whilst I think the punishment is extreme, I also think that a slap on the wrist and/or a day or two of community service that many get in this country is also extreme in that it's too lenient. However, it's bugger all to do with SUFC or our new owner IMO.

I prefer to look on the positive aspects as well - let's look at our fanbase. Casual racism - it's still there. Certain generations of Blades fans still have a slightly racist attitude; I'm sure none of them would ever harm anybody over the colour of their skin or their creed but you still hear it said on the terraces at times. If this helps United fans to appreciate Muslim people, that would be a positive. Add to that, my Dad occasionally makes such comments - I hate hearing him say it but having lived with it for years, I never challenge him over it. However, I am a teacher in a school with a large amount of Muslim children. Should I not be a teacher because of the fact that my father and grandfather have made a few racist comments over the years? Of course not. Should Prince Abdullah not buy SUFC because of a murky past of his family in the past? Figure it out yourselves.

Mind you, I'm finding it hilarious listening to the Pigs squeal about it. UTB.

When mandatic was portsmouth chairman I read an article regarding his links with war criminals
Never gets mentioned on radio Sheffield or the star
