The amount of times McBurnie and Brewster started to move forward anticipating a cross and we fucked about with it on the wing for another few minutes and either ended up losing it, playing backwards or putting a fucking shameful cross in was ridiculous.

Nobody could blame the forwards for any of that today. The service they’ve had to endure has been fucking demoralising for them.

So many times Baldock, Berge and Basham got in great positions to cross and then within 4 passes of what can only be described as back and forth ‘fucking around’, the ball is back with the opposition. Then when we do get crosses in they were far too long. What do these guys practice?

Our opportunities at this level against the top 4 are going to be so limited so when you get in a position to get the ball into the danger area you must take it. We have about 23% possession in these matches, these guys need to wise up that every moment in possession counts.

Special word to Lunny. Please at least try to be professional. Last week at Liverpool around 70 mins I remember a lazy nothing sideways, can’t be arsed type pass which annoyed me. This week such an indisciplined hit. That’s Leeds when he should have absolutely killed the keeper and today where he made no attempt to keep the ball down. Then that ball in the inside left position not even getting it in play. KozlukvsPortVale-esque. Lazy, lazy, lazy football.

Must be so frustrating to be a striker for us.

Whoever plays in the striking roles have to make runs, check, drop back, make another run and check, waiting for the ball to come in while we knock it around in triangles out on the wings. In the meantime, defenders are generally comfortable.

Playing like this isn't going to see the best out Brewster. Bringing McGoldrick on late is just going to provide more of the same.

Absolutely bang on. How can you coach a striker to anticipate a cross when they’ve been in the area for Christ knows how long and the defenders have had chance to mark up and set themselves? Get the ball in early while the defenders are facing their own goal and try and force mistakes.

Fucking hell, maybe even try and play through the middle every once in a while. You know, mix it up a bit and be a bit less predictable. But hey, who am I to suggest anything? I’m just a fan.

I recall far more overhits or failing to beat the first man than "peaches". That's not to criticise his overall performance and his ability to get in positions to make a cross.

I’d hardly call them peaches. He did at least put the ball in the box (eventually)


I don’t mind that we have a style of play that involves playing wide with the overloads - but what is the point in creating the overload when you eventually create some space you don’t bother crossing it?

Surely the point of us getting into wide areas is because Wilder wants us to cross the ball?

Baffling overplaying in the wide areas today, really frustrating for the strikers I imagine - it was frustrating enough for us just watching, imagine being in the box waiting for a cross and it gets passed back 2 or 3 times. Infuriating

My reference to the attacking coach wasn't aimed at the poor muppets waiting in the middle for the cross (they'd be better turning up in Jerusalem at Easter for that), it's the inability to cross the bloody ball that is frustrating.

I see CW changing his tune in the post match interview. Last season it was all about 'getting something out of the game, we've haven't arrived just to have a coach trip to Manchester/Liverpool/London etc. we're here to compete.'

Today it was we're not playing Rochdale it's Man City.

It was a first time hit of a ball which narrowly went over the bar. If he was thinking of anything, which he wasn't because stuff like that is instinctive, it would more likely be to score and increase the suitors in January.
