Our 127 year record under threat?

I knew someone who attended our 11-2 win against Cardiff on New Years Day 1926. He said when the 10th goal went in , many in the crowd threw their hats or caps in the air but most had to had to have a good look round to find their hats/caps afterwards!
My dad's first match. His last one was the Walsall defeat with the Givens missed penalty. Quite a contrast.

Ehh I remember it well , knackered at the end of the match jumping up and down celebrating all them goals , lets hope it never happens again

I was going to go, but was only a nipper, and didn't have enough loyalty points

That game was my grandad's first game. His last game was United's defeat at home to Walsall that relegated us to Division Four for the first time in our history. Quite a contrast!
Eh isn't it a shame he cant watch the team now , I might have been next to him at Walsall , I was there myself . ( crying )

Wasnt it in the top division we had just won promotion in a play off?
Sky saying it's the biggest ever top flight away win tonight ?
Obviously cant compare now to then but records are records.

No...it was the 92-92 season.....our 1st ever season in league football in the new expanded English league.
Sheff Wednesday were elected to start in the expanded 1st division....where as we missed out and had to start in the new 2nd division.

We finished 2nd in our first ever season behind Birmingham.

In that season there was no auto promotion or relegation.
instead the top 3 in the 2nd division played a test match (play-off) against their bottom 3 in the first division.

We played top flight Accrington Stanley, winning 1-0, so we were promoted at the first attempt, whilst Accrington were relegated.
The winners of division 2 Birmingham lost to Manchester United in their play-off, so Birmingham stayed in the 2nd division.
The Birmingham v Manchester was the battle of the Heaths. The blues were orI finally called Small Heath whereas the Red Devil’s were called Newton Heath.

It's hard to believe saints didn't look that far apart from Leicester at our place. Playing with 10 for 80 minutes obviously undermines saints structure and shape

I see that Southampton's next two games are against Manchester City (away) on Tuesday and then next Saturday... away to Manchester City.

On another point there's already been an 8-0 and a 9-0 and it isn't even the end of October. How competitive is this league, really? We didn't even used to get these scores back in the day when we played with hangovers in the Imperial Sunday League.

All the media seem to be raving about Leicester as a top 4 side.

So it’s even more impressive when you think how we matched Leicester at our place.
Leicester only managed 2 shots on target against us and we sat back defending for long spells in the 2nd half.

If we had a Brian Deane up front we would be capable of getting a Euro spot in our 1st season In the top flight.
it just shows how far we‘ve come...we have nothing to fear in this league.

Anyone notice the now tv advert for this game earlier .
It said do the saints have a prayer ? 😁

It'll be interesting to see, should we continue to perform as well as we are, when our players will stop being "shyte" players playing out of their skin, and just become decent players.

It's like Premier League fans think Premier League players all come through Premier League academies, and never go on loan or play in the Championship or lower.

Is Gunn shyte because he was at Norwich in the shyte league? Actually yeah he is. Bad example.

How did we lose to this shower of shite at Home?

0 - 8!
Some pretty abject refereeing / VAR

With proper VAR 1-1 minimum assuming pen scored for the blatant handball.

Without VAR, McBurnie's goal would have stood.

I haven’t watched it but as Bertrand got sent off, I’m guessing he was protecting the woeful Vestergaard... and once he’d gone they were exposed down there.

Update it looked like goals 3,4 and 5 focused on him... and then he was off at half time
