Having seen the impact of McBurnie (Swansea) at Barnsley 5/7 and Wilson (Liverpool) at Hull 2/4, the u23 Premier League might be a decent place to pick up loan strikers next season. In the top division, Lukas Nmecha (19) is currently leading scorer with 11/8, and made the City bench vs. Leicester in Feb. Nmecha has been promoted to the 1st team squad, but isn't featuring. He's just turned 19 in December, so it might be their view that he would benefit from another season in the u23's & Carabo Cup, as opposed to the Championship. But if you don't ask,you don't get. :)

McBurnie & Wilson are joint second on the goal scoring list with 10 goals a piece. McBurnie's form has lead to a Scotland call up for the upcoming friendlies. In the division below there is Callum O'Hare at Villa and Tyrese Campbell at Stoke that appear to be be worth a look at.

Rumours this morning that Arsenal will let Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson go out on loan next season - both would inject pace into our side. I like the look of your suggestion.

An excellent place to pick up some cracking talent - if scouted properly. When was the last time we picked up a real gem from this market? I honestly can't remember. Matt Phillips maybe?

We tend to get lumbered with the John Cofies, Jonathan Fortes and James Wilsons rather than snaring the Tammy Abrahams, Oli McBurnies and Aaron Mooys

James Wilson has played 6 times for us, 4 starts and 2 substitute appearances. His 4 starts came against Norwich, Wolves, Villa and Leicester. He scored 6 minutes into his first start against Norwich. His two sub appearance came against Wednesday and Ipswich and on both occasions he was on the pitch less than 25 minutes. He very nearly got the winner against Ipswich, hitting the post.

I'm not sure how you can say we've been 'lumbered' with him based on that

I remember Cofie scoring an absolute worldie for us as well. Can you honestly say you've been impressed with Wilson and would have him back again next season given the chance? I certainly wouldn't, personally I think he's a very lazy player and no better than the strikers we already have at the club

Why not give our own lads a chance? We've just sent a lad to Norway on loan who has scored over 60 goals in the last 2 seasons.

I've not seen enough of Hallam to comment on him personally, but as a generality, there is a big difference in standard between teams in Professional Development League which we play in, and the top of the Premier League 2 Division 1.

My point was that he's not been here long enough for us to say how good he is/might be.

When you compare the impact he's made to that of the strikers in the OP (McBurnie & Wilson) combined with the views of Derby and Brighton fans it doesn't fill you with much hope

Just because other strikers are doing well doesn’t mean Wilson won’t be a decent loan signing for us.

He only played 4 times for Derby so I wouldn’t judge him in that. He played 25 times for Brighton, scoring 5 times, when he was just 20 years old. Does necessarily prove much either way

Going to disagree with that point. Of the cat one academies our 23s play against or premier league U23s we play then our 23s have stood up to them and beaten them on numerous occasions....

Premier League Clubs WBA, Burnley, Watford, Stoke, Crystal Palace, Newcastle all beaten over the last 12 months, all with bigger budgets at U23 than we have at first team level.

Give me Ty Smith over Wilson all day long. Semple over Heneghan, Slater over Thomas.
All 3 could have been brought through this season over the the three players above.... and our three all a damned site cheaper for the budget !!

I'd say Wilson is too selfish more than anything else
