I'm surrounded by scousers who don't really know much about the championship!. To be fair though, the Everton fans know about us because they keep being linked with all our best young players!!. My scouse mates reckon we'll surprise a few teams?. Here's hoping!!. Utb

While I predicted , promotion / champions / 100 points .
I think we will comfortably hold our own , we probably won't go up , just like the bottle job pigs .
But coming into the Derby v them , I know I' d rather have Tufty , and Billy in the dressing room ,
Telling the rest of the players exactly what's going to happen ,
They'll be no turning the other cheek , where going to fuck these cunts ( there words not mine )
I know who'd I'd rather have in our dressing room and on the touch line .
Coco the clown , or somebody from Sheffield who knows what these games mean ,
With our club and its colours running through their veins just like us ,
Defeat is not an option .
Bring it on .

I'm usually so pessimistic about United (my grandad drilled it into me) but I've never felt so optimistic. It seems everyone in the championship has decided to believe the hype of how amazing it is. It's bullshit. If I'm honest I'll be quietly disappointed if we're not making a bit of a playoff challenge I just think Wilder is a rare xfactor and we are privileged to have him. The bloke only knows winning. Name a championship manager u would swap him for?

OP - that derby fan is either on the wind up or talking shite, do we have the best 11 players in the league? No. Do we have the best team spirit? Definitely. The one thing I believe in is that we will give 100% every minute of every game, that's a Wilder minimum. I cannot think of a team, any league, that gave 100% but got relegated due to having the worst 11players in that league. Attitude (bad) gets you relegated. Look at Sunderland last year, moyes came out in October and said they would do well to not be relegated, from then on they were down. Would wilder allow that? No.
OP - BTW, never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level then beat you with experience

To answer the question, no. I rarely discuss football with the locals and when I do, it's normally them asking me what I think we'll do rather than them just saying 'you'll go down'. If someone made such a definitive statement I'd assume they were trying to wind me up or they genuinely know fuck all about football. Either way, I wouldn't waste my time arguing with them.
Same here where I live in Leicester.
Some of their fans have let the title win get to their heads, coming up with one-liners like "you've got no chance surviving in the Championship" or "you'll go straight back down" etc. I just say "We'll see" and leave it at that.

as I have mentioned before , my best mate supports Bolton , he is very worried and he says he is not alone among-st the more mature end of their supporters no faith in Parkinson and expects them to end up in administration though he does say he hopes/expects we finish top 6

So he should be...their hoof and fall over routine will not thrive in the champ I predict...and add Birmingham and QPR to the list of teams who looked shite last year on 't telly. And Wolves

I don't see a point under the current regime where we are going to spend huge money! and I'm happy with that, I don't want PL cast offs on huge money. I am happy that we make the effort to scout, pick up players develop them and Im even happy to sell them on as long as my club survives and competes and then progresses by doing things right.

I think we will finish in the top half and I also think we will trouble the top 6. too much heart to not compete and ill be honest Im reading arrogance from all quarters and they're in for a shock. Players on £40kpw relegated from PL rocking up at the Lane mid winter and getting slapped about by Rodney Basham. ill have some of that.

To much arrogance in the Championship, too much money and too many average players earning too much money. There are also a number of bubbles about to burst. teams with no parachute payments spending money like a set of silly bollocks, the tramps, derby too. I expect a few more Blackburns next season.

Id be confident of a decent finish with what we have now not even taking into consideration any further additions.

Bang on!!!

Although I don't think we will go up, no way will we get relegated, just off the top of my head I think we'll finish above Bolton, Burton, Barnsley, Brentford, Preston (now that Grayson has gone) and Ipswich Town.

Quite a few brave predictions in here, to say a ball hasn't been kick, and recruitment hasn't finished, I should imagine the Wigan Athletic forum was pretty much the same last summer, after their league one cake walk the season before. I reckon United will stay up but it's not going to be as easy as some think, they'll be some really tough spells to negotiate this season in my opinion, anywhere from 10th to 18th would be a fantastic first season back.

Ive had few £50 bets 1 with the son in law that we Finnish above them FLORIST,Same bet with 1 of his mates
And yet again the same bet with yet another of the village people FLORIST supporters plus £50 we get a larger average crowd over the season, ffs this lot are just like the pigs living on past glories bit of blinding

That's a top post and sums up my feelings exactly.

I feel the term "Selling Club" is used as a derogatory term when in reality it should just be "Football Club" Im more than happy to be a selling club if we can finally master the art of "Selling" if it means next season we can exist and kick on, for every player we sell for X amount now under Wilder I am confident we can bring in a player of equal ability for a fraction of the cost.

Last season was superb but now as we start to predict how well we'll do next season it's become a bit of a curse. Just how good were we last season?

It's easier for Bolton and Milwall supporters to predict that without considerable investment then it'll be a season of struggle.

For us with 100 points, the style of play and all those goals scored after giving all the other clubs a head start it could be argued we may be too good for the Championship and sail through automatically. On the other hand that doesn't happen very often.

This is so reminiscent of the early 90's. Fair dos, Wendy had a very good team but they kept blowing huge sums on foreign players with exotic-sounding names. Giles de Bilde, Reggie Blinker and later Paolo di Canio and Benito Carbone. The latter was signed for £3m in 1996 and was on £20k a week - both astronomical sums back then. Meanwhile over a S2, Dave Bassett was gathering a collection of ragamuffins - Rostron, Booker, Stancliffe and a lanky black kid from Donnie who cost us £40k (I think his name was Deane?) 'Not good enough?' Good enough to go from the Third tier, through Division 2 and spending 4 seasons in the top flight. This spell saw an unforgettable night at the sty - Feb 11th 1992 - when United won 3-1.
Don't fear Wednesday, the manager is a clown in his 16th job and only capable of signing has-beens. He'll be out by Christmas.

Pig fan at work says we'll be lucky to get double figures points tally. CW and AK will aim for top two. If we fall short then we will but I am sure we will survive. If we make the top six, I have a sneaky feeling CW and AK will do what no other manager has managed to do......take us up through the play offs!

Or you could have just told them that at least your club has historically paid it's way unlike their unethical club who built a new stadium at the cost of £37m back in 2002 and then went into administration with debts of over £30m, thus paying only a fraction back of monies owed to local businesses and probably making a lot of those go out of business themselves and causing many families to suffer because of their unscrupulous ways. To top it off they went up that season with a ridiculous wage bill and got away with no penalty deduction as administration points deductions came into play after Leicester's little playful stunt.

So let them have the once in a lifetime prem title, I think they are a wank stain of a football club (and no I wasn't personally affected by this admin con either). Also the reason why I couldn't get all 'well done Leicester' when they won the title. No doubt they have different owners and no it wasnt the fans fault but they are still a tainted club in my eyes and I wish them no success.

We might be championship and them riding high in the premiership but at least out club is worth having some real pride in it.

And in answer to the question, Utd will be fine, finish in top ten, score more than average goals and will take 4 points of the Pigs who will implode. The championship isn't that good week in week out. Rotherham have survived for about 3 or 4 years before they finally went under and they were total wank.

I reckon your money is safe but I still have Forest down as surprise package next year who will turn it around and finish mid table, you're going to have a few scary moments over that cash! (Although why they are so confident is beyond me, I have a few Forest friends myself and they were not happy with what was on show last year.)

Well said Sir
may I add our fans don't need happy clappers to create an atmosphere !

He also thought it was stupid I was willing to bet my savings, place at uni and Large Mendonca 's house on us not going down next season.

The imaginary bet would have been safe son, and i applaud you for having the patience to argue with an idiot

Edit: although feel free to give me a heads-up if you fancy venturing into a casino in the near future !

Bob the Builder, Reggie, Vonk and the two quadraplegic Jocks were all late 90s'. Between them they were on about £110k/week and I remember many hilarious weeks when all 5 of the overpaid twats were injured. Wendy really knew how to spunk money under Wilson/Pleat.

Don't fear Wednesday, the manager is a clown in his 16th job and only capable of signing has-beens. He'll be out by Christmas.

Complete clown missing only the pointy shoes and silly hat. I'll see your 'Christmas' and raise you 'end of November'.

By the end of September.

My mate's an Oxford fan. The day we gave CW the job he texted me to say that if we could keep him and we gave him the finances he asks for, CW will take us straight to the PL with back-to-back promotions. He's already 50% correct. COYRAWW!

Ipswich and Norwich are the nearest clubs to where I live. Ipswich fans think we'll finish above them but then most Ipswich fans think they're going down. Norwich fans think they're going straight up but think we'll finish top half.

Imagine the angst if the bet was all your Steve Wilson collection :o
