Optimistic about next season?

Wycombe odds were on there for League One at 7 o'clock last night.

I saw it mentioned elsewhere (apologies, can't remember who or where) that we aren't listed on any odds for the championship next season.

I just looked and 21 teams are listed (Inc Sunderland, Luton, Rotherham who were only confirmed recently). The 3 missing are; playoff final losers, final relegated team from prem and us.

Seems a strange omission? Might not know how to price us with the potential of a takeover? Perhaps they know more than we do? Perhaps Hinchcliffe's influence at sky extends beyond crap commentary? Perhaps I'm guessing and hoping for good news...yeah, probably.

Posted this elsewhere as couldn't find this initially. Still strange.

Egan was the only player who was consistently playing all season in a much changed back five. One that has been one of the best that we have known at keeping clean sheets. Why do so many people think he’s so easy to replace?

He’s also got leadership qualities, seems attached to the club and seems a decent lad.
Just because that central centre back spot requires a good defender. Doesn’t need to be a brilliant passer or dribble out from the back. Just a really solid defender

My thoughts on Berge, Egan and MGW.

I’m not sure Berge will fancy another year at this level. And I wouldn’t be too arsed if he left. He’s been very stop-start throughout his entire spell. He finished the season strong and would definitely add something to next seasons squad but I just feel that if we can get £20m+ for him and that could go towards building a better squad then I’d go that way.

I’m not sure why everyone thinks Egan will be off. For me he’s not good enough to start in the PL every week. He’s been class for us but he has his weaknesses and they’d be exposed a lot in the PL. I don’t think he’ll have many suiters and that’s fine with me as he’s an excellent Championship defender.

MGW is pretty much irreplaceable. He’s been nothing short of sensational for us. 1 season on loan and he’s one of my favourite United players ever. We simply aren’t replacing him with anyone even half as good. He’s going to the top because he has both technical ability and the desire to win in abundance. Not having him will have a very big impact on our squad next season.

I am currently optimistic as our management team know the lower leagues. Ahead of recruitment time that seams our most likely source for us. Don't expect us to go up next season or us to go down.

Voted yes obviously as we should be up this year.
Big worries are
1. Yank shister
2. McBurnie still being here and involved. (Will no one rid me of this medling ?????)
3. Sell players too cheaply so lose too many and cannot replace.

Big hope is
1. Ashley talkover and money to spend rather than waste as on the few occasions we have had it before
Happy with Prince otherwise.

May be better if Burnley go down today. Small club screwed by McCabe's mates without Premership money.

I’m reasonably confident we can be a top 6 contender. I’d set expectations no higher than that. Consistency for top 2 needs a squad strength that we’ll not have.

We need backup for Wes unless A Davies is staying.
I would like to see Lopata in defence.
Please don't keep B Davies who is a weakling.
We need another 6'3" CB.
Norwood & Fleck are nowhere near athletic enough.
If we lose Berge we need an entire mf , of younger stronger faster players.
Our best striker is 36 , injured + likely to become more injury-prone as he ages.
Brewster has a bad injury.
McB is useless + injured anyway.
Hecky has loaned-out Burke so we know where he ranks.
As proved by last season , if we start slowly , it will cost us a chance of top two.
So it all depends on whether Hecky can see our deficiencies + recruit to deal with them.
He's already disappointing me by stating he wants to talk to B Davies.
Please God don't let us get burned by Klopp yet again.
I have no idea where we'll finish.
All I desire is some faster-moving fitter & stronger players , coupled with us dumping the slow fannying-about build-up play.
Also that we as somehow manage to lose McB or keep his plastic boot on for a year. When I see him on the teamsheet my heart sinks.

I’m still glad to be back watching live football after the lockdowns and therefore looking forward to carrying on watching United home and away next season. That’s why I’m still optimistic for next year.

We probably won’t see O’Connell play for us again realistically. I’m not expecting us to spend any money (as I understand, it’s all frees and loans). The three that have come down are very likely to go straight back up.

But I do trust in Hecky, McCall and Lester to shift the deadwood (he’s already started on getting shut of Mousset and Freeman), mould a squad that is competitive and produce football that is entertaining. I think we’re always best when we’re the underdog/when no one expects anything from us which. Next season we can go back to being that again.
