Can't disagree more.
In in the 80's when we were averaging under 10000 in the old 2nd division the atmosphere was dead most games.I remember a game at home to Birmingham on a Tuesday night where you could have heard a pin drop for most of the game(Peter Withe was on loan to them at the time and scored both goals)Many games under under Bassett and Warnock were 'dead atmospheres' at home.Does any club really fear an away trip ? The 4th division was different as we were on a 'victory tour' but the season before the atmosphere was dead except for the last few games when we we fighting to stay up.
Whether you stand or sit is irrelavant to the atmosphere to atmosphere....in the premier league,Everton,Newcastle and Charlton were superb for atmosheres as were many of the home goals. Many away games last year were excellant and we were in the seats.
There is a myth that standing will improve atmosphere's at matches when in reality it will make no difference. It wasn't better 'in the good old days'...with hindsight it was a disgrace the conditions we fans had to watch the game in and the way we were treated by the police.(however, our so called 'hard men' didn't held with thisReverting back to terracing will be a sep backwards, imo. Pressure needs to be kept being put on clubs to improve facilities. The next campaign will be to bring back the football specials
BDTBL can be intimidating for away fans (just ask the Pigs) but I am struggling to see how you come to the conclusion that the club
'have done everything possible to rid the club of the passion it was once renowned for.'If anything .they have done everything possible to get more fans in,especially the kids.
Compared to the early part of the 80's we have nearly doubled the attendances yet we are in a division lower. How is the club to blame ?
