I emailed sufc yesterday asking about the open day 2009...
the reply today was .....a date has not been set for the open day but when
it has there will be an announcement on the web site....
United's ever-popular Open Day is on the horizon once more... put Sunday 2nd August into your diary.
The Blades will once again throw open Bramall Lane's doors between 10am and 3pm for Unitedites to get in the mood ahead of the new campaign - and, as in previous years, it's free!
Kevin Blackwell and the players will once again be the star attractions but the club has many plans to make it a full day of fun for Blades fans young and old.
You can watch a specially-designed training session - just five days before the start of the new season - and then get the autographs of your favourite stars, including boss Blackwell's new signings.
There will be giveaways, the chance to win tickets, and youngsters signing up to become Junior Blades on the day will be in with the chance to be a United mascot for the first home game of the new season.
It is hoped that the new Macron-made away strip will go on sale on Open Day, whilst the ticket office will also be open for fans to purchase tickets for forthcoming matches.
United's Operations Director, Simon Argall commented: "Our annual Open Day has proved to be tremendously popular, and it seems that the numbers that descend on Bramall Lane increases year after year. We've got plenty organised for Sunday 2nd August and the preparations are continuing.
"It's a great family day out - there's something for Blades fans of all ages and, of course, you don't have to spend a penny! You can watch the players being put through their paces, collect a few autographs and there might even be freebies to give away."
Thousands of fans have turned up to enjoy United's Open Days in previous years and the 2009 version is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
The Sheffield Star, Real Radio, the Army and South Yorkshire Transport will all be in attendance, whilst there will be stalls and exhibitions, including United historian Denis Clarebrough with a vast range of Blades programmes from down the years.
Once again there will be a fun fair in the Cherry Street car park, whilst the Sheffield Pipe Band will provide entertainment.
And that's not all... Especially for kids this year, United have designed a 'Local Sports Taster Session'.
Young Blades fans can try football, cricket, rugby league, basketball and ice hockey and win tickets to see the local teams in action... and remember, it's free.
stuff the away kit, when do we get our ladies fit home shirt?!
After last year's utterly dismal attempt at a Mexican wave, what silly shit we do this year? Fancy dress? Still got my Frenchman's clobber.........
oh i'll probably go, just briefly! I want a free thermal mug!!
where was my free thermal mug?!
Did you buy a new shirt today? if so, it was there![]()
Yes I did - but no it wasn't
Pah, I was served at 12. I expected it to be in my bag, so didn't look until I got outside. Not impressed - I'll get one though - I want a thermal mug!!!!
I got the home one. I do like the away shirt, but like home one too - so home it has to be (for now at least).
After all that I didn't go, but my front room has had the ceiling painted, the old carpet has been chucked, and the floor prepped for laying laminate later this week. So not a complete loss, as it has earned me mucho brownie points with Mrs. SV. She's bought me beer. :drunk:
