Onto Millwall

I 100% agree with this. I never understand why players returning to fitness don’t start games and then when they’re knackered, take them off. Better that way than bringing them in and then being knackered before the end or not getting as much of a run as we’d like depending how the game gies

However teams never seem to do this. I just assume they know something (lots) that I don’t 🤷🏼‍♂️

I assume one reason is so they can make multiple subs in one go to change the game tactically too
Maybe bringing them on later, the rest of the players have slowed down, and the pace is slightly lower?
Also, if they start. there is a risk of them staying on I suppose, if they say they are ok, with adrenaline etc.

----------------------------Cooper---------------------------
Seriki---------Souttar-------------Anel-------McCallum
-----------------------Souza------Peck---------------------
Rak-Sakyi---------------O'Hare------------------Hamer
------------------------------One-----------------------------

This is a very strong defence with Souttar and Anel coming back, and allows us to rest Glichrist and Burrows, who can both come on as subs if needed.

Keep the established midfield, but get Shacks, Davies and the lesser spotted Brooks on later in the game, depending on how things are going.

Put faith in One to lead the line for 60 mins, then get Moore back into the mix. If Campbell is fine, then all the better for another option up top.

Have a like for the use of ---------- much better than the garbled options we get sometimes:

Hendo
Freeman Bash JOC
McEverly
Peschisolido Brown
Coutts Flint
Duffy/Scoogz
Deano

Very tough game of course but Millwall have no fit CBs. We’ll have pretty much our best team back. Cov just won there- we should be looking to do the same. They don’t have the attacking players West Brom do to trouble us.

Souttar and Anel come straight back into the side. We conceded 2 today and by our standards that’s not good. Times have changed from last season where our starting centre half is now on the bench for WBA.

Forward line picks itself IF Campbell is fit. If not it’s Brewster time.

Maybe Moore can play some part too.

Davies maybe closer to some minutes too.
I reckon Davies will start

I’ve always preferred Two up top personally, One can often get isolated

Good post

The thought of having to remotely rely on Brewster shows how fragile our squad is .

His ship will never sail

Start your strongest 11 every time IMO. No room for sentimentallity.

Cooper

Gilchrist Anel Souttar Burrows

Peck Souza

JRS O'Hare Hamer

Campbell/Moore (whoever is the fittest)

They are missing Jake Cooper, but we still need our giants back into the starting 11.

A team managed by Frank Lampard managed to beat them at the New Den at the weekend, so I’m feeling more confident.

Regarding robbo and peck is that Millwall are a threat from set pieces and crosses, and with anel and soutter it increases our chances of winning majority of the balls coming into our box.

And I was thinking along the lines of Davies for peck to get some minutes in and the experience of Davies for a tough away fixture to a decent championship squad, with peck coming on to inject some energy and freshness when Davies starts tiring.

Keeps peck fresher for the game against Plymouth and robbo if needs be to rotate back in.
I posted the question on Anel as a possible forward choice instead of One, because someone said One is not ready yet, and JLT did not deserve to be dropped!
It could be an option but I accept your reasoning v Millwall.

Agreed. Tough game away at the Den. Millwall are usually a mid table unpredictable side. Put our strongest side out, and put them back where they belong!

Some outlandish ideas on here so far.

Davies won't start. He said himself after the Sunderland game that he's not fit to start matches yet, and he's played precisely 0 minutes since then.

Anel goes straight back into the defence. I know nothing of his prior exploits as a striker, but he's our star CB, and should be played there as a result. Souttar also to come back in as he has been superb since we brought him in.

I don't expect Campbell to miss out. He was smart enough to not push himself further when he started to feel the hamstring - players who have that properly go will typically pull up far more dramatically than he did, or just drop to the ground completely. He simply stopped running, presumably to protect himself from further damage.

Even if Campbell doesn't feature/start, it won't be Moore that comes in. If he wasn't fit to make the bench for WBA, then he isn't fit enough to start 3 days later. A change would be One or Brewster before Moore gets the nod.

So it'll probably be this:

GK: Cooper

DF: Gilchrist - Souttar - Anel - Burrows

DM: Souza - Peck

AM: JRS - O'Hare - Hamer

ST: Campbell

Then look to bring Moore, peck, brewster and Brooks on depending how the games going, maybe mcallum all to get some minutes in (in hopes we can rotate vs Peterborough).

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here B89, but what's the Peterborough bit about?

Well obviously yes, but we may as well shut half of the forum down if we aren't allowed to speculate....;)
Maybe we should give random fans the chance to pick the team this season like there were two fans who won the chance to appear in the squad photo! 😆

I think CW said Campbell’s problem is his back, not his hamstring.
So maybe some rest and massage might be enough 🤞

With Millwall missing first choice centre backs (especially Cooper) I would like to see Anel, Harry and Kieffer start if possible, to provide an aerial threat attack wise that Millwall usually have to offer against the opposition.

Would start with Brewster if Moore/Campbell are not fit and bring on One in the second half.

Also I would with One or Brewster and try and go at Millwall from the off.

Weird or not, you didn’t answer the question.

Suitable or not, it is a genuine question. The only available option is another academy prospect. One.
There is no prospect of Anel playing up front. At least one of Moore, Campbell and Brewster will be available, as are One, Marsh and Beattie. (Jevan, not Craig or James.)
We are more likely to go with Nigel Clough’s 4-6-0 formation than play AA any further forward than the back 4, alongside Big Harry.

once again a point would be a brilliant result for us follow that up with a win against plymouth and that takes us in to the holiday period in a fantastic position

Robinson certainly did nothing wrong today to merit dropping him. He performed well. If we’re assuming that Souttar comes back into to shore up the right back slot with Gilchrist then it makes no sense to completely refresh the back 4 by bringing in right footed Anel for left footed Robinson at left centre back

Peck is doing great, ran his socks off today so can be rotated for Davies if we need to
Yes makes no sense at all to go back to your best CB pairing does it?

I think Wilder will restore Anel and Souttar as the two CB's and Gilchrist will start at RB. He might rotate Burrows with McCallum. Can't see him changing the starting midfield but I think Davies will feature at some point. He said post WBA match that he's got the full quota so I'd expect either Moore or Campbell to start, probably Moore assuming he's fit.

I don't think Robbo has done anything wrong, but he's simply not as good as the other two and Wilder can justify it by resting him (not that he needs to justify it).

I actually think we'll win this one.
What a sensible and well thought out post.....are you sure you're on the right forum?

I suspect this is bang on. Anel and Souttar have arguably been the best defence CB pairing in the league, so will be restored. Burrows has been rested when we have 3 in a week fixture list. I would imagine Davies is still a fair bit off starting in terms of fitness and I don't a think 20 mins cameo is evidence to displace Peck as yet. If Moore and Campbell are a bit tentative and don't have a full 90 in them, I would guess Moore starts because of the extra physical presence needed against Millwall, with Campbell back at the weekend.

I doing think Moore or Campbell will start sadly. CW has very sensibly reintroduced injured players back in very gradually so far, and so I don’t see Moore starting for a few games.

I also reckon CW is talking bollocks about Campbell being fit to keep Millwall guessing. I really hope I’m wrong though.

I predict he will start Oné, with Moore to come on in the second half.

Found it interesting that Brooks hasn't featured at all in the last two games. He went from starting to barely getting subbed on anymore. I'm sure he'll rebound, but right now it looks like JSR has won that little battle for the RW position.

JSR didn’t have a great game v Baggies, but Millwall requires a strong squad to get a result. An away game in a rowdy atmosphere, means they need putting back in their place.
I only offer Anel as an option because I believe he previously had success there, and the striker options are all a bit doubtful.
