With Campbell playing with a back injury and limping off (i know wilder said he's fine), Moore and brewster only just coming back into fitness, who do we start up front?

Like wise at centerback do we stick anel and soutter straight back in.

Millwall are no mugs at the den they beat Burnley, Leeds and drew to Sunderland.

I'd like to go with

Cooper

Gilchrist soutter anel Burrows

Davies souza

JRS Ohare Hamer
Campbell (fitness dependent)

Then look to bring Moore, peck, brewster and Brooks on depending how the games going, maybe mcallum all to get some minutes in (in hopes we can rotate vs Peterborough).

*Plymouth

I don’t think Peck will be dropped to the bench, but I would like to see Davies get 30 mins. Looking forward to the trip already. UTB

Start Davies and play him for 30-45 mins and then bring Peck on. Better to have Davies properly warmed up than coming in late and cold
I 100% agree with this. I never understand why players returning to fitness don’t start games and then when they’re knackered, take them off. Better that way than bringing them in and then being knackered before the end or not getting as much of a run as we’d like depending how the game gies

However teams never seem to do this. I just assume they know something (lots) that I don’t 🤷🏼‍♂️

I assume one reason is so they can make multiple subs in one go to change the game tactically too

Souttar and Anel come straight back into the side. We conceded 2 today and by our standards that’s not good. Times have changed from last season where our starting centre half is now on the bench for WBA.

Forward line picks itself IF Campbell is fit. If not it’s Brewster time.

Maybe Moore can play some part too.

Davies maybe closer to some minutes too.

Why drop Robinson?
We lose height with Robinson as one of two central defenders, but the biggest thing for me is his limitations with the ball at his feet. He's got great desire and he's one of our leaders, but his lack of technical ability shows, he gets the ball off Cooper or the other centrehalf and more often than not it's just pumped down the channel for the striker to hold up, which isn't Campbell's game. He's also prone to the odd fuck up with ball at feet.

I'd also start Peck, I don't see what he's done that would result in him being replaced by someone still finding match sharpness. I am a massive Peck fan, think he's got all the attributes to be a top player.

It’s something I’ve talked about a bit this season, we are playing more of a squad game and the entire squad warms up, those coming back from hamstring, groin injuries then go and take their place on the bench… sitting down and getting cold again after being warmed up properly…

Moore wasn’t injured but Rested for Bristol city, warmed up, went and sat down on the first cold night and then ping, calf goes.

Brewster and Davies both coming back from injuries so the ideal situation would be to start them for 30-45 mins v Millwall and then take them off

We have 5 subs nowadays so if we’re giving them 30 mins why not the first 30 rather than the last. Starters and finishers in games

I suppose the general principle is that if someone can only go for 30 that it's better if the 30 they go for is against a tired opposition as opposed to one that is as fresh as you are

Robinson certainly did nothing wrong today to merit dropping him. He performed well. If we’re assuming that Souttar comes back into to shore up the right back slot with Gilchrist then it makes no sense to completely refresh the back 4 by bringing in right footed Anel for left footed Robinson at left centre back

Peck is doing great, ran his socks off today so can be rotated for Davies if we need to

Yeah and that makes sense, but when the injury risk from cold muscles is higher, then perhaps starting warm is better

Yeah, I can see that pov, but for me you play your best players, and Robinson isn't one of our best two centre halves. Whilst he hasn't done anything wrong I think we lose quite a bit in possession when he plays. I get the right/left foot argument but not every successful team has to have a left footed centre half.

----------------------------Cooper---------------------------
Seriki---------Souttar-------------Anel-------McCallum
-----------------------Souza------Peck---------------------
Rak-Sakyi---------------O'Hare------------------Hamer
------------------------------One-----------------------------

This is a very strong defence with Souttar and Anel coming back, and allows us to rest Glichrist and Burrows, who can both come on as subs if needed.

Keep the established midfield, but get Shacks, Davies and the lesser spotted Brooks on later in the game, depending on how things are going.

Put faith in One to lead the line for 60 mins, then get Moore back into the mix. If Campbell is fine, then all the better for another option up top.

Let's just leave it to Chris pal 👍🏼

Would start with JRS up front if Campbell and Moore aren't fit

Agree about Robbo.

But we need to get some minutes into Davies.

So start Davies and replace him with Peck who we know is match fit.

If you start Peck , then bring Davies on , what do you do if Davies breaks down ?

Surely it's better to start someone who is working up to match fitness , knowing you can replace them at any time with someone who can finish the game.

I would start Moore and our first choice CBs - Jake Cooper is huge and tends to score with headers if faced by a shorty

I wonder what our schedule is ?
Monday off or go in to get niggles treated
Tuesday travel & Hotel
Weds lie-in & game
OR
Monday off / treatment if necessary
Tuesday training
Risk the exhausting coach journey on Weds ?

It's not great for the players after exhausting conditions & travel on Sunday

Regarding robbo and peck is that Millwall are a threat from set pieces and crosses, and with anel and soutter it increases our chances of winning majority of the balls coming into our box.

And I was thinking along the lines of Davies for peck to get some minutes in and the experience of Davies for a tough away fixture to a decent championship squad, with peck coming on to inject some energy and freshness when Davies starts tiring.

Keeps peck fresher for the game against Plymouth and robbo if needs be to rotate back in.

They don’t train the full day, so probably training and travel tomorrow.

I think Wilder will restore Anel and Souttar as the two CB's and Gilchrist will start at RB. He might rotate Burrows with McCallum. Can't see him changing the starting midfield but I think Davies will feature at some point. He said post WBA match that he's got the full quota so I'd expect either Moore or Campbell to start, probably Moore assuming he's fit.

I don't think Robbo has done anything wrong, but he's simply not as good as the other two and Wilder can justify it by resting him (not that he needs to justify it).

I actually think we'll win this one.

Exhausting coach journey? It’s London, a couple of hours down the motorway.
