He’s clearly got a great on drive in his locker and likes a pull shot but is he finding the boundary enough to bat top order?

I may have misunderstood the graphic.

I don't mind grabban , but why bother letting Mcgoldrick go if we are gonna get grabban , McGoldrick is and was better than him

Khadra may be a good signing but he hasn't signed yet,reading that he's about to ,going to sign,blaa blaa,until it's confirmed,then i'll believe it.

Really ? 8 Goals in the prem for a team rock bottom and 15 the season we went up

I know who would bring us more and it isn't Money grabban

McGoldrick isn't a centre forward. He progresses play from deep. Runs between lines etc. Superb footballer.

Grabban is a centre forward. More of a focal point. Links play higher up the field and is a much better finisher.

It's the latter that our squad is lacking. We have a few no.10s now.
 



This started off as a midfield thread and has now gravitated to Grabban. Missed a lot I'd last season with 2 injuries, 34 and will want big wages...no thanks.

Box to box midfielder has been required for 5 seasons ( no ever since Browny in fact apart from when Fleck was really on it and mitigated the need). Dont ask me who but it needs to be someone who walks straight into the first 11. As others have pointed out we have enough youngsters of our own without loaning or signing others with potential unless they immediately strengthen the first team.

I thought Doyle was that player mate..? Shame about the injury.

Don't disagree just think we have massively underrated how good a fully fit didzy is , it is shame his blades career fizzled out due to injury and baffling management
 
I dont know how good Doyle is or what Heckingbottoms plan is for him, whether he replaces Fleck or competes with Norwood and Berge. But, otherwise, I feel we are one short in midfield and in general the lack of quality on our left side is our weakness up and down the line. Grabban will always score goals, the service is what I am concerned about. We definitely need another striker in the squad. We have a lot of talented ball carriers and a couple of good finishers, so I think having someone who can hold the ball up, either from a deeper position like McGoldrick, or further up the pitch like Madine, would give us an important option. I like the idea of Lolley if he is fit ( given the left sided problem)....and if not, he might be a good influence for McBurnie on the treatment table...
 
We’ve been lacking height and pace for years. I think the height issue is fairly sorted, just need the pace and desire to get in the box early. Be a far better team for that.

I think that selecting 2 players in central midfield from Norwood, Fleck and Doyle with both Berge and Osborn able to play there is enough to get us through till January. I agree that Arblaster and Coulibaly should be cover or hopefully develop fast enough to take a shirt off the established players for that position.

I suspect our recruitment in the next 4/5 weeks will focus on managing RWB and giving more options up front where we really only have Brewster and 2 young lads available at the moment.
 
I agree that the midfield needs revitalising - my worry has always been that Norwood, Fleck and Osbourne when played all lack pace and particularly height against a physical tall opposition.

Khadra might add that pace and when he is fit Doyle might have that skill and finesse but it remains to be seen and we live in hope !
 
Agreed .... Khadra is a good signing but we still need a solid CH to play between Clarke & Bash, a solid DM who can tackle and has a great engine, and a striker who can score 15 / 20 at this level.

This needs more likes.
 
We need some legs in midfield. Need a tough tackler. Someone who can get up and down. Box to box. Give Norwood time on the ball and run past the forward players.

We also need something else upfront. At least to cover until everyone is back. Can't rely on what we have.

We've signed 5 players, 3 are on loan. We could use one of those to be a permanent as well.
 
I’d like one decent midfielder that signs permanently I’m not sure that we can deal with wholesale changes at United we tried a new manager and it was just too much.
 



I think Tommy Doyle is the midfielder we've been looking for. If he can get himself fit and up to speed, I think he could have a major impact. He's got a great passing range and plays box to box. Could really help out Norwood.

I think he'll be our best signing this season.

Ciaran Clark might be out worst. I think we could have done better at LCB and we've committed one of our loan spots to it.
