Incoming? Omar Bogle

Wigan would be absolutely mental to do that. Doyle's 29 and has gone off the boil a bit, Bogle's 24 and would be great in L1.

But if they want to sell him for no more than what they paid, and they have no basis to expect more, then I'd be happy for us to go for him.

It's not like there's an abundance of good striker options on the market.
When has he proved a good striker at championship level ? he certainly didn't look one at Wigan. Not for me, we've enough cover there, much more important positions to get cover for before a striker.

Transfer Listed by Paul Cook as he 'doesnt fit in with his style of play'.
Stupid decision considering his goalscoring record.

Didn't pull up any trees at Wigan, only scoring a few since January but EVERYONE struggled to score in that Wigan side.

We need a striker and he'd be a good punt I think. There's not much else on the market for a reasonable price.
Bit of championship interest so it would be tough but we'd be the biggest side of the lot.

BOGLE CAN LEAVE WIGAN

Sky sources understand Omar Bogle has been placed on the transfer list by Wigan.

Paul Cook doesn’t believe the player fits into his style of play.

Ipswich, QPR and Barnsley have all expressed interest in taking the forward.

Wigan are thought to value him at £800,000.

If he's on the transfer list, he should be very gettable. If there's any truth in the rumours that Wilder was interested last summer, this could be a goer. I think we need one more striker and he fits a profile in that he's young and has excelled at a lower level.

CW and AK say they are no longer looking to bring an attacking player in due to Brooks or have I misunderstood the positions they mean?

It's been rumoured Bogle has been available ever since Cook took over the realm there, so I would've expected a snippet or rumour to have surfaced by now if we'd shown any interest

Anyone considered Cook's listed him because he's an arsehole? I'm not saying he is but he could well be. It seems odd that Cook doesn't want to keep a player who should smash the league they're in and that he's having to publicly tout him.

He describes himself on Twitter as:-

"25....Maverick....I was born to stand out, I will never fit in"

He's apparently leaving Wigan after a bust up with another player and staff.

Definitely see him as a Wilder type signing and fitting into the dressing room.

Not sure mate, didn't AK specifically refer to an attacking midfielder? Think CW mentioned 1 or 2 new additions up top prior to this so may still have a striker in mind.
It would be nice to add some pace up there.

My view is we'll be left wanting up top this coming season. Whilst our strikers all offer something different, I'm just not convinced we have quite enough

Fortunately, it's CW's opinion that counts, not mine

The longer he stays at Wigan, the potential for a Morsy/Leonard length thread is huge..here we go.

Bogle is the type of player we should be looking at, to give us a more direct running at defenders goal threat.

But if there is a ? as regards his attitude and commitment, I doubt Wilder would risk disrupting a generally harmonious dressing room.

If this isn't the case, then I'd be looking to get 2 out of Done, Coop Boy, Clarke and Lavery (least likely of the 4) out of the door first.

I would personally suspect that it's more a case of selling one of your high value players in order to improve the team in other areas. A bit like our sales of DCL and Adams last season.

You could be right though.

We didn't have to advertise either. We just sold them. It appears Wigan have had little interest in Bogle. If they had, we'd be reading that someone had made an offer.

I'm not particularly surprised, I imagine they will want to recoup most of what they paid for him.
Considering they paid 7 figures: - for someone who had only just made an impact in league football - I think they'll struggle.

I would be so underwhelmed if we signed him. He didn't cut it at Wigan.
