Ollie is unable to post his normal Southerly Match report tonight for reasons which will become clear below...
Alreet Muckers, Ollie ere. You may remember me from such threads as the Shed, the prediction thing and cycling to games. Tonight is a cycling to the game post.
I set off in good time. Given that Oxford is over 50 miles outside London and knowing the trouble i've had before I set off on Wednesday 19th December. But I thought no bother, I needed to make sure I arrived on time at one game this season. This was going to be Epic.
I set off well prepared this time, I knew that Oxford was a tricky ride, so I made sure I had supplies. I'd been into Carphone Whorehouse and they tried to put me on a smartphone deal where I got the phone free and 500 texts a week, plus this internet thingy. But it was all too complicated, so I left it. I went home and was pissed off that they'd tried to rip me off, our lass was out, so I thought i'd wander down to the Shed. I'd still got those old stories of me shed in there, laminated.
The Shed ain't what it was, its falling down and the budget for repairs isn't going to get the leaks fixed, its rotting a bit, but me landlord came down with some new roofing felt this morning and plugged the gaps, a little. Anyways I was rooting through for me favourite shed thread and out of nowhere i came across a map.
I took in some lovely sights on the way, It was a great ride, but I took a few wrong turns, the first one at Paris, I knew france wasn't part of the route, but I reckoned if I kept going left I'd be back on track. I didn't.But I'd prepared well and cleverly bought a train ticket just in case I got lost. But as I didn't know where I'd get lost I asked for a couple of random tickets I took a punt on Stuttgart to Bratislava, how lucky I was when I found myself in Southern Germany!
Anyway, I eventually sorted meself out and after a bit more trouble with me bearings, I made it to Romania, Varna is a lovely place and I'm finding that Romania is a lovely country, the roads are a bit dodgy, but I found a pub which was showing the game. It wasn't our game, it was Man City v Stoke, must've been from a few weeks ago, but a cracking game all the same.
I should be back for the next game, I might get one of these Smart phones after all
Cheers,
Ollie
