Tell me this dont make your todger a bit stiff. 😩
Some of those players might be better for us, some are for the future and will improve under Wilder but it's crazy how people would drop some of our better players just because the others are new names.
I really want us to buy Mcburnie and Jota but have they had better seasons than Sharp and Duffy? Has Watkins been better than McGoldrick?

I'm not saying they wont be great singing, maybe even improvements in the long run but Sharp, Didsy and Duffy deserve a bit more respect.

I see your point. But just say we signed Mcburnie / Jota / Watkins. Then we go down, we are coming back with a younger squad with abilities similar if not better.

We have a great opportunity to turn the side round in terms of age. Billy may have 1 or 2 seasons in him. But one day it will run out to play at the level we are at. Then we have a ready made replacement. Ready for an assault back to the prem.

Certainly not. Which is why if they're demanding silly money for him, we should walk away until they get real.
We are buying from the wrong club if we want a bargain. We got lucky with Egan, I think they slipped up and didnt fully understand his potential.
Jota was over priced, Maupay is being and now Watkins too.
I wouldn't pay over £5m and with us probably being the only Premiership side going in for him I don't think anyone will be beating thay valuation.

I thought we'd be the 'top' club and probably only PL club in for him. I think the same about Freeman, Jota and some others. But if others want Watkins, Brentford will get the daft fee they're after.

£8m is about the most I'd want to pay for Watkins. He's a good player but he's the perfect example of the 'type' that gets over hyped.

Oh i'd be more than happy with Duff,Didsy and Sharp being in ahead of them but its the potential depth of quality that excites me.

I'd imagine £8m to be the opening bid to be honest.

He's English, 23 and if there's other PL interest then expect the price to rise. That's the state of the transfer market unfortunately. I don't expect Wilder to pay over the odds for anyone but we'll have to see whether that's wise or not, as it's a strategy that'll see us miss out on a lot of targets.

play nicely Ricky, there's a good boy. Let the mods sort out these harmless indiscretions. easy to make hasty mistakes. harder to fix.

Nothing worth moving into the other merged thread.

Please report duplicate threads instead of dishing out insults where possible, we'll do our best to be quick :D

Would fit with CW’s apparent preference for home grown talent. Although he is a Saverner

Watkins, Maupay, Benrahma, Canos, Sawyers - I really dont get the obsession with Brentford players. Where were these players when finishing 11th?

It's amazing that now we are a Premier League club the player valuations on here seem to be cut in half.

Championship clubs don't sell their players to the Prem on the cheap, especially attacking players. I'd be amazed if Watkins left Brentford to go to a Premier League club for less than £12m. If we want players for less than £8m, then the Championship isn't the place to shop, we need to look abroad.

Yes please
For the right price he would be a reyt signing, played a lot as a winger but can play a number of attacking roles, would suit us down to the ground

Scoring goals wasn't their achilles heel, they scored as many goals as Leeds. Hence why people like their attacking players.

The going rate is 12m.

James is rumoured at 15m

So that’s the ball park to negotiate from up or down depending on how much they rate him.

Got that pace and power combination I’ve not seen since Ashley Sestanovich
There's a joke here about 'shooting' but after I'd sat pondering whether to post it for longer than a minute, the answer was obviously 'no'.

I would suspect that when Fer (if he signs) plays it will be in a flatter mid 3 and at the expense of the #10 or a striker.
Interesting because weve never really successfully implemented that system before when we've tried it ,usually getting beat quite simply and posing little or no threat going forward

Worked ok with a couple of away performances last year if I recall correctly. But when Leonard was playing

But agree we play best when on the front foot

Totally agree - imho it isolates the front two and makes Utd far easier to defend against. I can perhaps understand reverting to it when defending leads but I think starting games like that takes away a lot of Utd attacking threat. I suppose CW will be considering it for when they're away to the tougher teams next season when Utd will have less possession. If so, I would think he'll need to recruit some additional pace up front to enable quick counters. Roofe would be ideal for that

Brentford season ticket holder said you can have him, never fulfilled potential and inconsistent. But that sounds just like CW's type of player.

Granted they score well but 50 of their 72 goals were at home- suggesting they are homers, away they've scored the same as Millwall.
We can expect a lot of backs to the wall games next season so homers wont do. We're already the 2nd best team so PL experience has to be a must I would have thought.
