Not the worst but he's on the list not sure why we signed someone who can't hit the target
Fair enough mate. I agree he needs a bit more composure. But last 2 games he’s come on he has made us look a much better team. He caused the first goal against Man U. And was part of the goal today. Defenders are genuinely frightened by him. If we played the 3 up top he would cause us to score many goals.

He's actually pretty smart with his closing down too... unlike Osborne who just runs at any player who has the ball like a headless chicken, Burke waits and bides his time until he sees either a playing receiving the ball stationary or taking a heavy touch and then goes for it.

He isn't just fast.
He's direct as well, and that doesn't always go together.

Hes strong, brave, had a fantastic leap and drrrrrrrives us up the park.

His finishing is the best but he makes his own chances at times which very few of our players are capable of.

I think he was MAGNIFICENT today and if he'd knocked that attempt in I would have classed it as the perfect center forward display by a struggling team with 10 men.

You mean the one who we just smash balls up to and expect him to deal with?

McBurnie has never been and never will be a target man yet we insist on playing him as such.
Think we all need to bang on the managers office door and tell him not to play McBurnie ever again...anyway this is a thread about a much more effective player who allows us to play football in a more advanced position as he pushes the opposition back...in FEAR...stop the long ball shite!!!

He reminds me of a heavyweight boxer at times which isn’t surprising given his explosiveness and physique. He will put in extreme amounts of effort then takes some time off to recover. Like a boxer putting it all in one round throwing flurry after flurry then taking the next round off just staying out of range to recover and keep from gassing out. It makes complete sense given the amount of muscle he naturally carries.

Yes he missed a glorious chance but like i keep saying he played majority of last season at RWB. hes learning the role of a striker every time he plays. For me, he starts every game

Im a fan. Loses all composure when a shot is the option, but that aside he is quite good with the ball/ spotting a pass. And that pace is always going to cause problems/ need accounting for.

Burke is playing exactly how the West Brom fans said he would.

Gives 100%, can't finish - not seen anything to suggest any different.

He causes havoc with defences for sure - he'd be better in a 3412 with didzy in the hole, but CW won't change, so presume it will be horses for courses with Burke and others for most of the season. I could even see Moose and Burke together in games against teams that push up on us.

I think it's been a really good bit of business. Cost us absolutely bugger all, he's just such an athlete that he's a major threat. He's far from a natural footballer, but the explosive pace is something that we've missed. For seeing games out or when against top sides, he's a major asset. Impacts a game far more than Robinson.
Exactly this. He’s an athlete more than he is a footballer. That said, he should play every week since he stops the opposition playing with a high defensive line. His finishing is about as good as McGoldrick’s was last season, but we should persevere. As we should also with Bogle.

He clearly has some positives. Lightening pace, strength, fitness and stamina, height and has shown he does have awareness of people around him. Seems to be reasonably intelligent with his running/positional play and I have seen him make some astute passers but....he clearly is not a finisher. Can he be coached to become a finisher? I don't know. His potential has clearly been recognised by his previous transfer fees but equally he hasn't fulfilled that with Leipzig or WBA. As an optimist I would say look at Vardy. He was a late developer. I do think that we have looked better when he has played. He has given us an outlet. He made the first goal v Manure and should have had the Arsenal CH sent off for shirt pulling but apparently that is now not even a foul in the EPL if you play for a "big Club". He (and the other strikers) have all had to feed off scraps all season and he has shown in my view that he can do that.

Realistically it seems clear that we are going down. We now have a surfeit of strikers. Burke, McB, McG, Mousse, Brewster, Billy but we are very weak in midfield. My guess is we will have to sell at least one of those to raise funds to strengthen the MF. Burke will not be worth much so we will have to stick with him.

I get Adama Traore-ish likeness from him, proper raw but time to develop under the right manager. Can’t teach pace and power.

Im a fan. Loses all composure when a shot is the option, but that aside he is quite good with the ball/ spotting a pass. And that pace is always going to cause problems/ need accounting for.
He’s actually not too bad on the ball. His first touch is pretty decent. I think he’s just out of confidence in front of goal and almost expects to miss.

If he can add the composure required in front of goal we have a hell of a player on our hands, he's improving each and every game and gives defenders a real problem. At no point since he arrived have I thought, "I wish we had Callum Robinson on the bench".

Like him a lot. Faster than most players and it’s the threat in behind that worries defenders and opens up space. Give him game time and confidence and he could be an absolute gem.
Agree. Very pacey and will go for it. Just needs to improve his finishing off after the big missed today at the AMEX. Has to be in the starting 11after his performance in last 2 games

Good winger/wideplayer but never has and probably never will be a decent striker.

I have been Burkes biggest critic , he cant hit a barn door with a banjo but his pace and power allows us to press and his pace gets us behind the oppositions defence . He may not be the first name on the team sheet but i am warming to him and probably deserves to start next week .

Thing is and this could be the difference between him and McBurnie is the Burke is nearly there just needs to start scoring. If he suddenly starts knocking them in McBurnie will look very over priced.

I just hope like someone said he is not this years Didzy as he could have had 4/5 by now.
