Why would we pay a backup as much as Fulham have foolishly, for a guy whos unproven. We mght look back in 5 years and go yep that was one that go away or we might this time be chuckling like we were with Villa when they Spunked 15 million on Matt Targatt who looked league 1 at best last year.
Why would we pay 15 million for Cash, hes not worth that. Just because Bettis has a semblance of sease and doesnt want to go wasting money doesnt mean Chris will be unhappy about the situation. We dont have money to waste, Chris knows that he also knows they board will back him when the right deal is there to be made like they did with Berge.
People need to take a deep breath here, yes we are all scarred by years of disappointment and hurt but the board or Chris have given none of us a reason to doubt they have a plan that they believe they can pull off in terms of the squad
Unless a player is entering the last year of his contract or getting on a bit, then £15m is the going rate for a top performing Championship player.
It's funny how when one of our players is linked with a move away, we start talking about £50m (e.g. Egan), but as soon as we are linked with buying other club’s best players, we all of a sudden expect their club to give them away McCabe style.
Difference now is that Egan, JOC, Baldock and Stevens have proven they are top premier league players.
We couldn’t have got anything like £15m for Egan in the season we went up.
Now though, his stats back up his performances, he as well as others are on healthy contracts so yes, £25m should be the absolute minimum we’d be asking for. And £50m wouldn’t be unheard of for JOc considering he’s left sided as well as English.
We sold Brooks for about £12m with no Premier League experience, so why wouldn’t we expect Forest to want similar money for one of their best players with three years on his contract? £15m is probably a bit high, but we’re dreaming if we expect to get him for much less.
There are no cheap buys in the Championship, we've gotta look abroad if we want better value for money.

Brooks is a different kind of player. And had hardly played a game. To be honest I felt we got a good price for him co side ring his number of games played.
Superb article. Although I read it and have no idea where we’d play him. RWB, RCM or up front. The way he’s talked about, it’ll need to be one position and one position only if he’s to understand our system. I’m sure CWAK will have an idea.
I suggest we just tell West Brom to do one.
Offering 4m for a player they supposedly want is no way to go about it.
We probably paid something between 6-8m and this would have been influenced by his contract running down.
He's well in contract with us and he's not so bad that we can't wait to shove him out the door.
Asking price is 8m. If you can't afford it then don't ask. I fail to see why taking away someone who they can't wait to offload is some sort of recompense.
If you can't afford to shop at Waitrose, you go to Tesco or Safeway.
In summary, it's 8m or jog on.
I like your principles but,It’s all part of the game of negotiation.
Having looked into this chap, Oliver Burke, a bit more, I think he’d be an interesting signing. He has pace and height and strength. We don’t have those three things in any one player currently.
I’d seriously consider a swop deal plus cash for Robinson for wing nut.

Well we’ve had bad players look good on Scouting Vids, so.......No end product, runs up blind alleys, runs it out of play and can't shoot for toffee, unless he has improved he will need lots of work from Knill and Co. looks more like a £2m player to me.
Just don't see the rationale behind this. Doesn't look an upgrade on Robinson at all, if I was bring generous I'd say they were on a par. If we are looking for a rwb get one, stop all this 'he players on the right and looks quick he can play wing back'. If he's been looked at as a striker absolutely not. If we want to get rid of Robinson (I don't as he could develop in to Mcgoldrick's role - let him roam and pick up play) use him as part of a deal to get Cash at least they're not in our league. Don't ever sell (swap) to a rival where he could be a difference to WBA staying up and us down. If we want Burke buy him as he's clearly not wanted and should be relatively cheap, CWAK then work their magic. Could Carl Jenkinson do a job as backup he at least is a rwb and doesn't often play for florest , wages? Tommy Smith at Stoke, Ryan Nyambe (the Namibian Cafu) at Blackburn, Djed Spence Middlesborough? All look decent and shouldn't break the bank, backup with potential.
