I'm pretty sure it's complete twaddle that we were ever in for him. There's no credible source and he doesn't seem to fit the profile.
Danny Hall has said we haven't made an offer admist "reported" interest

Just read it , I think soon question marks might be asked of these new owners struggling getting 1st team signing as seen over the line doesn't seem to be any intent ,but A l signing flooded in no problems!!!!.
Just worked out there is a 99% chance this is ANOTHER Fallowfield account 🤦🏼‍♂️

Guess it depends how much you rate European competition.

The top level after the group phases of the Champions League, yes, but overall, personally I don’t. Beating substandard teams from Greece or Luxembourg or Belgium, I don’t see as any great achievement.

I think most top 6 Championship teams could have a good run in the Europa League based on their best XIs and most definitely the Conference League outside of the other English teams.

I appreciate some foreign players grow up with it seen as a pinnacle, because let’s be honest, their own top leagues in most cases are not up to much compared to the strength of the English leagues.

Then 90% of the matches at home for Rangers are against League One level teams.

I can see the attraction but as you part allude, you’re going there to get a move elsewhere. You join an English club that gets promoted and you’re already in one of the top two leagues in the world.

That’s just me and I may be in the minority. I don’t like European competition. I find it a bit of a fad.
Someone is judged that he has “played in Europe” as some sort of badge of honour; yeah, he’s played teams from Luxembourg and Latvia that wouldn’t beat Kiveton. Well done, grow up 🤣 That’s my sentiment. Knock out phases of the Champions League 💪 rest, absolute fraud of a competition. Then again I preferred it when Forest won back to back and you had to be Champions rather than 4th place to compete.
Not sure that’s entirely accurate.
I wouldn’t have minded us ‘slumming it in the Europa League last season against the likes of Lazio, Athletic Club, Lyon, Frankfurt, Olympiakos, Sociadad, Ajax, Roma, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Porto, albeit alongside the 15th & 17th worst teams in the Premier League- one of which then consequently ‘qualified’ for this seasons Champions League.
Whilst that may appear to dilute my point I’m doubtful that (m)any of the “top 6 Championship teams could have a good run in the Europa League” even if they ended up facing Manure &/ or Tottingham.
On a slightly different point, re- organisation of the competition(s) has resulted in (interminable) early stages being padded out’ with ‘minnows’ (akin to early rounds of FA Cup) but is sufficiently skewed to favour ‘big’ clubs & a decent quality competition / opposition in the latter stages having waded through admittedly considerable quantities of ‘sediment’, if not dross

Rangers are building a very championship looking side which is another rebuild which won’t get near Celtic unfortunately

He is still in The Netherlands and trained with Go ahead today. Talk of a deal with Ranger's, is premature. (Sky Sports)

Im not expecting a majority even to agree with me, I just don’t see the wow factor of European football/experience being put on a pedestal.

If Rangers can have a reasonable run, I don’t see how Leeds, Burnley, United, Sunderland etc couldn’t have done similar. At least those top three had squads valued higher than that of Rangers.

Scottish teams get the advantage of not having competitive games most weekends, so the European games are their entire focus, aside from the old firm matches of course.

Which should be off putting to the likes of Antman if he really wants to challenge himself.

I suspect he'll wait to see if Rangers get through this latest round of champions league qualification games too

Signing Antman surely puts deals like Moore and JRS in doubt as spurs are only sending moore out for regular football, would imagine it’s the same for Palace.

Listening to TalkShite on the way home last week and they were mentioning that making an official offer is usually one of the last steps of the process.

Correct. An agreement is generally reached with the player / agent before an official approach is made to the parent club. No point in ironing out details of a transfer if the player doesn’t want the move in the first place.

Well, if you're using them as a stepping stone, the only games you'll get real exposure will be those so you follow suit.
Let's be honest, if his aim is the Premier League he will stand out in those normal league games playing at 60% for the vast majority of the time.

I genuinely do think the lower level of competitiveness week to week is an attraction at this stage to get the move for big money to play in the PL.
If you aren't quite up to that level, or able to perform consistently then you've got the fall back of a nice big contract and you're set for life.

So basically all deals are technically illegal.

(unless it's within the last 6 months of the players contract where he is free to discuss with clubs).

Yes but that’s how it happens.

I worked in Nottingham a few years ago and met an agent. He mainly managed players in and around the middle divisions but he told me the usual process is along these lines:

Club contact agent and say ‘Eyup would your player be interested in playing for us’
Yes/no
‘How much roughly would he want paying?’
If said agent and player are keen on the move then they may let slip any release or contract clauses at this point.

If those discussions were positive the club then contact the parent club.

They’ll ask if the player is for sale and what the rough asking price would be.

By the time the official offer is submitted the buying club already know how keen the player is, how much he expects to earn, probably know any contractual clauses and also know the expectation on transfer fee.

They get away with it because it’s all done via agents and everyone does it.

It’ll be why Forest have got so upset about the Spurs MGW approach as they think his agents leaked his contact clauses to Spurs.

Generally, discussions would start with the blessings of the players parent club first. Ergo, the buying club asking permission to speak with player X regarding a possible transfer.

Without that permission, it’s considered ‘tapping up’

This is the grey area. It’s only tapping up if the buying club speaks directly to the player without the prior knowledge of the selling club.

The rules are outdated because they don’t reflect modern footballers who will have an agent, PR rep, marketing rep, PA etc… so it’s entirely possible for a buying club to engage with the players ‘team’ without the player even being aware.

Basically doesn't seem he's ready to go anywhere just yet, nothing interesting has come his way so far, also wants to play in the champions league soon.

The thing is, there's Champions League football just to say you've played it, albeit for a side that's making up the number like Rangers, Anderlecht, Apoel Nicosia, Rosenborg, Club Brugge etc or actually competing in it for the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG etc.

John Lundstram playing for Rangers in the Champions League for example is like a League Two side drawing Liverpool in the FA Cup and being able to say they played against Mo Salah.
