GLTTL, fair play.

BUT

We can’t let players leave for free / run down contracts was the narrative.

Berge - Sold
Ndiaye - Sold

Then this season McB, Jebbo, Egan, etc all able to just walk out.

Fuck this shit on Berge and Ndiaye, we had to sell them is now a complete lie and shits on us supporters having to watch that wank every week last season.

I think due to injury issues the club thought they were in the driving seat with the likes of Egan and McBurnie along and assumed they would just sign.

Jebbo I think told Wilder what he wanted to hear and was never signing a new deal. We won't have been able to offload him earlier either since he probably wasn't fit enough to pass a medical last season.

I think problem was no one offered on those players

Egan and McB were fit when we sold Berge and Ndiaye weren’t they?

I predict he’ll be available for a loan in January having failed to settle a la BBD

Oli is a very likeable lad- and fair play to Blades fans they did stick by him - to have the main song for 5 years is pretty astonishing.

But...

In 80 matches in the Prem he scored 13 goals - Enough said really isn't it.
Not really, he scored 13/38 in our last Championship season and that’s where we’re playing again now. Also his contribution last season when he was fit shouldn’t be forgotten - his ability to relieve pressure and get us up the pitch (City at home being a good example). Maybe add in the goals we didn’t concede from corners when he was playing. McBurnie is a very good player who will be missed. Let’s hope Kiefer Moore replaces some of what we’ve lost.

Went through mixed opinions on McBurnie. Delighted when we first signed him. Thought he was garbage for a long period as well as being a cock.
Changed my opinion again and I actually think that he’s a really decent lad who did some daft things and made some daft choices. There but for the Grace go most of us.
Last couple of seasons, I think he gave it all, was committed to the club and put in some really good performances.
Not the most gifted of players and won’t be considered alongside other legends as time goes by, but embodied much of the qualities we like to see of a ‘Blade’. Grafted, could mix it up, bit of a twat at times, scored important goals, gave his all (most of the time)
I doubt very much he will read this but good luck Oli. Genuinely hope you make a success of it and that you and your family enjoy life in the sun.

Firstly he stayed for the duration of his contract and never once tried to leave so that’s loyal enough..

Baffles me when people expect a player to love the club as much as they do personally. Vast majority of people wouldn’t have that level of loyalty to their employers so why expect it of others?

I think it’s a very good move for him and I don’t think players make career moves based on lifestyle enough.. lad has a kid now and he’s moving his family to the canaries. Good luck to him. Las Palmas are good enough to remain in La Liga and he he will up against Barca, Real, Atletico, Bilbao, Seville to name a few.

He's gone, let's move on. And I was a big fan.

Of course.
It wasn't posted with any sense of regret, rather a casual interest in how a former player is faring in what could be at least described as an unexpected destination.
Plus, Sid Lowe's reports are always worth a read, if you have any interest in Spanish football. 😊

I know one of his best mates who has shown me a few photos that Oli has sent. The training ground has a brilliant family area that his partner & baby go along to every day while he is training. That socialisation with the other wives & partners has really helped her to settle in quickly, which has helped him to settle too with not having to worry about it.

His only gripe is having to fly to every away match. But he’s really landed on his feet there.

Can't knock him for going. I'm sure he's got a lovely villa in a great part of the world, his baby is only a few months old so didn't need to settle, and by the time she's ready for school he could be back in the UK.

Living the dream comes to mind.

He's certainly seems to have fallen on his feet.
However I'm really struggling with all the 'rose tinted' views on him.
All I remember is a injury plagued, limited footballer, who was always close to a red card.
He had probably the worst ball striking technique I think I've ever seen on a professional footballer.
26 goals in 5 years tells a fairly damning story.

I spent most of last night watching the Watford game and thinking this openness, setup, and passing style is perfect McBurnie fodder. Would have had a hatrick and a totally different player to Moore (who sadly, and I know it’s very early, doesn’t look like the right type/level of striker for the system).

It's too early for me to cast judgement on Moore, but I would have loved to see McBurnie in this squad. Would have really suited him.

McB is the one I would liked to have kept from last year. Him and Moore in rotation would have been excellent.

But I don’t think Moore has done too badly. It’s a thankless task holding the line on your own like that and it does seem to give Hamer and O’hare plenty of space to turn and run. Moore’s first touch is excellent - certainly better than McB. But he doesn’t have the little tricks and right turn that McB has.

Funnily enough, Moore looks quite quick (outpaced their defender in a foot race first half yesterday) but seems a bit crap in the air! I’m assuming that will improve.

Overall, good champ level big man and a decent signing for the cash. Basically what I expected. Hopefully will bring in some competition in Jan.

He’s in Gran Canaria playing against Barcelona & Real Madrid. I’m sure he’s enjoying being away from Sheffield 😂

We go for Top 2 if we had signed Oli! Imagine starting with Oli then bringing on KM to see the game out.

The fact we wanted/tried to have both and then have not gone for another striker after losing Mcb is quite confusing
