I remember him telling me about the Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young To Die TV Special. I finally got to see it for myself recently when I got the 40th Anniversary Box/Book Set thingy of said album.

A couple of other clubs from back then. 'Isabella's' on the corner of Matilda Street/Eyre Street (now a chicken takeaway). Right at the back of my mind is 'Tramp's' but I can't remember where it was. (I typed Tramps night club sheffield into Google images and a few pictures of Ched came up. Honest!) Also, what was that club on Moncrieffe Road, Nether Edge?

Isabella's is still there although had various different names over the years. It was Club Uropa for quite a while and is now called Code. The chicken shop is downstairs and the club is upstairs.

It burnt down after a Silverdale leavers party ( to which us High Storrsers were invited despite our deputy head trying to warn the venue about under agers) must have been 1982/3. Don’t know if Crouchy was there strutting his stuff.

It was still trading as Isabella's in the early to mid 90's and then changed to Club Uropa around 1995ish. Used to go every Tuesday night. Berlin's and then onto either Uropa or Capital, which is now Plug, just across the road. It was still trading as Club Uropa in the early 2000's as I worked on the door there for about 18 months on and off. It's now called Code and hosts Dance events as my lad goes quite often.

I remember it as Club Europa. They used to have that big wheel that they spun for drinks offers.

Lad at work always used to boast about what he did with various females in there...

Im pretty sure Club Europa / Berlins had a more dramatic entrance that that Code has now.

It was Berlins that had the big wheel. It was populated with all types of different drinks offers. The DJ used to spin it and whatever offer it landed on was there until it got spun again.

You're right re the entrance. Uropa and Berlins used to be 2 completely separate venues. Berlins was to the right of that photo and had a few steps up to the glass fronted entrance and Uropa had the same entrance it has now. Whoever owns Code must have bought both units as it's now all one venue hence all the frontage has changed.

No. I was too young then. Isabellas was often the venue of choice for Silverdale parties, although the 6th form social of 1985 was at R&J's **. I remember it as it was (a) my 17th birthday and (b) I got thrown out for puking on the dance floor. I also puked in a friend's car on the way home. He wound the window down and in doing so dragged lumps of puke down into the door cavity.

Golden days.

** it may already have become Cairo's by then. I'm not the go-to guy for Sheffield nightclub history. I fucking hate nightclubs.

I'm hopeless with names and faces but I recognised Musical and Radio straight away.

I don't remember Greenwich Blade ever looking that young and fresh faced though 🤣
How young
That's Lepps / Sharon alright. "Run and hide" would be my advice.
I spent a good 15 mins once denying I knew who she was when she collared me in the NSS.

As an out of towner, I used to get off the train and walk up to the Yorkshire Grey. Sometimes I still sit outside the Roebuck and look across at that gret car park monstrosity and try to visualise where my favourite pub used to be.

The Minerva (Which I think is now the Yorkshire Grey) where Stu Beresford and me used to distribute the Bertie Blade News before heading for the strippers at some sort of HoffBrau House I can't remember the name of, then the Pump, then the Whetstone when it was opened and run by the lady who had run the Buccaneer and the Wapentake and finally the Railway Hotel before it became the Ra lwa Hot due to missing letters. God I feel old.

Oh yes, another favourite route was Wheatsheaf at Parkhead, Prince of Wales at Ecclesall, Banner Cross Inn, The very old Pomona or was it the Grey on Ecclesall Road and then the Sportsman. All depended on the 50 and 82 buses at that time.
I remember the Minerva cafe in that row of shops under the fiesta building. My dad used to treat me to chip buttie and a chocolate eclair for my patience in standing outside the Penny Black while he polished off his 3 pints.
