Old United games on You Tube

That season in Division 4 taught me how football could be brilliant fun even if you were in the bottom tier. Great memories.
Much better memories of that season than the one that's just finished. Away games at P'boro 4-0 and Brad City, the divided away end at Valley Parade.

I've found footage of the first away game I went to, United losing 2-1 to Chesterfield in the 88-89 season. An entertaining game - Bryson misses an open goal, one of the worst fouls I have seen and bizarre post match interviews!

" both players went for the same ball" !! Is he having a laugh ? Criminal challenge

He was a real talent that never fulfilled some ludicrous skill as shown here. Bit of a crackpot of course and do not play again after his Glasgow kiss to McInnis!

Recall the goal he scored v Rotherham too. Probably knocking about somewhere on youtube.
That game v Rotherham, I've looked everywhere on you tube for that, but not found it! It was the 2001 - 02 season I think. Suffo's goal was sublime, one of the best I've ever seen at the Lane in my view.

Stood in normal spot that night underneath the white wall on the Kop. Normally comfortable, absolutely rammed that night , new faces galore all around us. Decent (ish) midweek following from Newcastle although they were on a downer and singing anti John Hall songs.

Crucially - Your Honour - kick off delayed.

Official crowd 17,000.

We must have been proper skint in those days.
We missed the first goal as we were queuing to get in 17,000 “My Arse”..

Entertaining win at Pompey.

I always remember this as being the game where I thought Brown became unstoppable. He could score outside the area, he could take free kicks, he could volley, and on this night on a truly awful pitch he conjured up that goal.

Only Brown in that season and Beattie in his first stint filled me with confidence every game that they would score, rather than hoping that would. Even though Sharp was great for us under Wilder and Evans in that one season, something felt different with Brown and Beattie. I guess with Brown it's because no one saw 22 goals in one season coming from him, whilst Beattie was a player of class and pure instinc, and probably the most complete striker we'd seen for over a decade.

I like seeing Shaun Murphy in that video, what a solid and reliable player.

Would love to see Gary Hanson's goal against Liverpool probably my most fond moment as a nipper and Big Bob Atkins goal against Rotherham away thousands there that day Utb

the barry butlin winning header at the tivoli end in 79 two thirds of the end exploding with blades fans

If anyone can track down footage from Blades 2-2 QPR 18th October 97 (my first match) that would be appreciated.

I can't find anything unfortunately, but remember it well for Marcelo'slate equaliser.

Found it, if you look at footage from 29 minutes 30 seconds. It shows what I know, I could have sworn Marcelo's goal was the equaliser!

Don't think Benstead would get away with just a yellow today, and some interesting text have been included from a Chesterfield fan.

That was a horrible game, but it makes interesting viewing now. As for the Chesterfield fan adding text, he had one or two reasonable points but he could at least have made an attempt at being witty when writing it. Besides, they might have done the double over us that season but at the end of it all they still went down, and we went up. So fuck him.

Deano scores for West Ham. Watch Pesch in good form though.

I remember thinking after his fantastic debut off the bench that Paul Shaw was going to be a Blades superstar. Ah well.

And I've never forgiven Bywater for his injury-time bootlace-tying. I was fuming at that, but it did make the equaliser all the more sweet two minutes later.

Our record against the bottom 4 that season were won 2, lost 6!
