Great photo, not one I think I have seen before. I would like to think it was from the beginning of the great Cup run of 1961, but I suspect it is from one of our less successful league games at Everton in the following few seasons. In the Cup match, my memory is of a match in which the outfield 10 protected Hodgy with great success.

Got the photo from Facebook and it stated that the match was in 1961. Can see Alex Young, Graham Shaw and the other Everton player might be Roy Vernon. Will investigate.

Not January 1961 because Everton wore V necked shirts, not October 1963 because it was a night match, not September 1964 because we wore white socks, not April 1966 because Graham Shaw didnt play. So it is either October 1961 or November 1962
