No personal offence taken Ballers. I am a Blade and, by definition, have skin thicker than a Rhino's foreskin.

Given a choice of having dinner and a few beers with either Warnock or Bassett there really is no contest.
It's just that I cannot belittle what Warnock has achieved nor what he did for us Blades fans.
We were on our arse when he took over and it is undeniable that the club was in a far better state when he left us. McCabe takes a lot of credit for that as well, despite what people still harp on about and blame him for where we are now. McCabe stumped up a lot of dink - as have we all - but imagine what it would have been like without that investment - People with a wad that large and interested in Sheffield United are very few and far between.

The Warnock years were never really that dull - even when we weren't competing for promotion. Controversial, I'll grant you, but at least we managed to get back some pride in the team and our club.

I am loving what Danny Wilson is bringing to us at the moment and I would be delighted if he is our manager for many years to come. If that were the case then we will have a team to be rightly proud of, playing football in the right manner and being a relative success. If he can emulate what Rodgers, Lambert and Adkins (so it appears) are achieving then we will all be feeling our g'nads with some pride (lady Blades can feel someone else's if they feel so obliged - but remember to get the owners permission before proceeding).

>You not getting the blatent SUFC connection of Brown, Warnock etc?
and webber.. yeah i get it alright.. what has it got to do with us?

No, what you seem to be saying is that if Mancini wins the League this year then he's a better manager than Ferguson. Warncok got QPR promoted in the last full season to judge.

Football management is full of noise. Lots of managers stumble on good sides, get a run of good refereeing decisions, get superb backing, get a run of pure good luck. It's hard to seperate ability from short term good fortune (not many years ago many lauded Aidy Boiothroyd as the next big thing).

Those who seek to deny that 7 promotions is an undeniable sign of ability are simply letting their own emotion stand in the way of their jusdment.

I haven't for one minute said 7 promotions isn't an achievement, unless you can see some hidden text somewhere. Neither has anyone else from what I can see. However, anyone with a pair of eyes in their head can see he is a busted flush.

He was the man responsible for our relegation from the Premiership. In that January window he could have gone and spent several million on a James Beattie (MK I not the shadow now plying his trade with us) or the like. Not Warnock. He wanted to speculate and hedge bets. Fathi came in, Seck, an unready Kilgallon, a never ready Shelton. Stead was his success story but once more bits and bobs players rather than putting your neck on the chopping block and going out for a marquee signing who will score you goals. Then, when it all mattered on that last day of the season Warnock choked. He blamed Sean Bean, he blamed McCabe, he blamed Benitez, he blamed Tevez blah, blah, blah. No one seems to mention that at the same time he was trying to manouvre for a new contract himself. I mean, that wouldn't upset the apple cart at all would it? The manager of the team diverting his thoughts to lining his own pockets at the expense of the greater good of the team he loved. Oh we lost and while some blame Danny Webber for hitting the post, others blame McCabe for lack of funds (even Warnock didn't stoop to that one) I blame the man who took all the accolades when things were going well.

QPR was a squad that had money poured in, and Warnock inherited a nice situation where money wasn't an issue. He got them promoted, yep good so far. Then he got to the big stage.

As usual no one who wasn't cast off/damaged goods would play for him, hence he ended up with bits and bobs. Damaged goods.

Then, it all started rosey enough. Warnock was a "breathe of fresh air" according to all the critics. Then it stopped going well. QPR pitched down the league. It was poor refereeing, it was someones fault. Fergie? Tevez? Benitez? West Ham? The owner not spending money? Referees not understanding the game. The list can be repeated and different names inserted but the outcome was the same. The owners at QPR saw that they needed to change because Warnock couldn't manage at the top table. Perhaps gambling on high balls to the 34 year old Heider Hegusson wasn't going to get rumbled. I mean, he would never get injured or his form drop off would it?

So his bandwagon moved on to Leeds. This didn't start well. He inherited some decent players but in a matter of minutes managed to turn them back into the rabble army of Upandatem FC kicking the shit out of anyone who dared be better than them. He has form for this. He is a spoiled, nasty, insolent man who has no thought of anyone but himself. In only a few weeks he has used the "best fans in the world" speech, "referees don't understand the game" following his teams hatchet job on Reading, "Its the oppositions fault, they have always crowded round the ref" following the same mauling and the classic "I have one last challenge" when he took the job. I believe he has blamed Bates for not giving any money out but I don't have that fact to hand. He has even told most of the players that played yesterday they won't be playing for Leeds next season. Good chat Neil! That will build the team spirit your so well known at getting going.

Fact is, the games moved on and Warnock hasn't. In the same way Bassett became a dinosaur (but a far better and nicer one) he realised and kept doing TV work. Warnock can't do it. He feeds off the limelight. He will continue to thrash around with his antiquated "tactics" and blaming all and everyone when it goes wrong. Taking all the credit when it goes right.

Theres a difference between being a decent bits and bobs manager and being a a good manager.

Oh and talking about promotions. How many relegations has he presided over in his time? If one makes you good, surely the other makes you bad?

You're begrudginly saying it's an achievement whilst going to great lengths to argue that it's down to something other than being a good manager. It doesn't add up.

However, anyone with a pair of eyes in their head can see he is a busted flush.

I'm struggling for time right now, but do I really need to read on? He got QPR promoted LAST season. He got Scarborough promoted about 25 years ago. I'd love a seriously made point about how the flush got bust at some point in the last 6 months, but then again it's clear that only one of us is thinking straight.... :)

He's unpopular, no purist and in love with himself. I can see why so many dislike him. I can also see that it's that dislike that clouds so many peoples judgement. I'll (try to) leave this thread alone here......

How is he a busted flush? He got promoted last season and has only been at Leeds five minutes.
