Oh, the irony!

Irony - dictionary definition:

"Incongruity between what is expected to be and what actually is"

Where's the incongruity? We expected him to introduce passing football. If you're talking about people thinking he wouldn't be a success, then I'll remind you that the league season is only four games old.

I think it would be highly ironic if Wilson, having been appointed without the backing of a very vocal group of supporters, then went on to become one of our most loved managers. But I don't see any irony in what you're saying.

But we're just talking we Semantics here really and I'll stop being facetious.

All I can say is I'm pleased with what we've done so far, and I'm well looking forward to tomorrow's game. COYRAWW!

It is actually a brilliant post from broomhill: Kust like Alison Morisette did all those years ago, he has dropped an unknowing master stroke. By introducing a thread called 'oh how the irony' and then his example including no irony at all, it has indeed done the full turn and become ironic.

Don't get sidetracked with a second dose of irony broomers, you'll have Olle back trying to teach his grandmother to suck eggs, in a fine example of the blind attempting to lead the partially sighted.

When you say "us" fans that know nowt, you don't need to include you and me in that of course.

That goes without saying, Trig. It was a feeble attempt to preserve what little street cred I have left.

I'm happy with my new position as 'third most boring poster', although it is under constant threat, and I will have to up my game. ;)

Just as a point of fact, Wilson managed the mighty Hartlepool to promotion in 06-07 and so it isn't really 'beyond debate' that he hasn't achieved a promotion in the last 10 years. However, I suggest that we forget this for now and just enjoy some decent winning football (until it all goes wrong again...)...

I think (?) that he has had 10 third division seasons without promotion. I appreciate that he has achieved that honour from other divisions.

Anyway, I'll be happily watching his side at the mighty Yeovil tomorrow.

:)
