Oh my god, I think I envy Barnsley

Please, hear me out:

Specifically it's their transfer policy, a few players in there line up made me a little jealous.

A couple of premier league loanees, in Isgrove and Fletcher. (from S'ton and Man Utd respectively) I know we had a sticky patch with loans in the relagation season, but that's because we relied on loaning defenders and didn't have a solid spine, but loaning a couple of quality attacking players that you otherwise couldn't buy makes perfect sense in this division. It's a pity that other than Matt Phillips and Conor Coady I'm struggling to remember any successful loans in our 5 year stay down here.

Also young, hungry 'up and coming' players: Mawson, Hourihane & Winnall all are (fairly) young and made the step up from a lower level. Probably for a lot less money than Brayford to cumulatively sign, and pay wages for.

I know Barnsley didn't take us apart today, but they looked very solid, and if it wasn't for a bit of fortune could have beaten us. They definitely had the edge on us in terms of clear cut chances.

Ah well, there's always next season. UTB.

I think all of the teams in the play offs would beat Barnsley.

I said Millwall and Wigan would get promoted at the start of the season and I think I will be right, although I expected them being first and second.

Will be the same next year I expect MKD and Charlton to be better than most in League one next season.

I'm not sure about that. Charlton have real internal strife and MK Dons are worse than they were when they got promoted.

Both are superior to us, but I can't see them both bouncing back.

Charlton will pick up decent season long loans from the big London sides looking to give their young starlets game time. The Prem clubs will be looking at using this option from the off this summer as there are no emergency loans during the season next year.

Barnsley have done amazing this season considering where they were in November but in reality they are about as good as us as today showed. That said I take your point on the loan situation. I have no idea what is going on scouting wise when we cant pick up the odd decent young loan like every other League One side seems to. This goes back further than the Adkins regime too

Sir John Brayford was a successful loan unfortunately we signed him permanently and he had a bad injury
